I know there are a few others out there. And until next week this will have been my primary Neo System period. So how many other Neo CD owners are on this board? Doesn't matter if it's a back-up to your Home Cart system, or your primary.. stand up and be counted.

I'd like to hear your thoughts and which system you use.

Me: A Neo*Geo CD top loader.

Got a top loader. It's great for Metal Slug 1, Twinkle Star Sprites, Neo Driftout, Brikinger, ect...Games impossible or difficult to get on AES.

i had one until i sold it. Great unit, love the arranged music and extra features, but the loading times on Last Blade II were a little much for me.

I don't know why, but for some reason when i had my Neo CD games, i felt as though they weren't real, or something. (NOT talking about the boots the guy gave me) The games just felt fake, not in their true form. This, as well as the fact that no more games were coming out on the CD system after KOF 99 caused me to buy a Cart system. At one point, i owned every Neo Geo format: Neo Cart, Neo CD, Neo Geo Pocket Color. Now i just have my cart system, and i'm perfectly happy. KOF2K rules.

I think most of the people with cart systems have had the CD system at one point. I bought my first cart system back in 1991 but like so many people, I could not afford to buy many games at $200 and over. So, I had to wait until 1993 to get an import NEO GEO CD. I bought about 20 games since they were relatively cheap. Its still a great system for action, shooter, sports and puzzle games but for fighting games, it plain sucks. I am not even talking about stuff like Last Blade 2. I had King of Fighters 94 on CD and the loading made me stop playing it. I still listen to the music though because it rocks!

For some reason I always think about playing a game on my neo cd but dont feel like waiting through all the loading. I feel like I wait more then play. That's what caused me to get a neo cart (even though I wont be able to have as many games) and sell my neo cd although cds are good with really rare games like laserblast said. It's comin from japan right now. I cant wait to play that baby

Well my top loading single speed neo cd is curretly is my only way of enjoying the neo experience (besides my pocket). I really love the arranged music, but some of the load times are absolutely rediculous. Ive often contimplated timing the load time between battles in last blade 2's story mode cause i swear its like 5 minutes.

Don't get me wrong though, I love my neo cd and if i must wait through the load times, so be it. Im using it for now but hope in the future to be able to start up with MVS. I just wish the slugs on CD werent so damn expensive nowadays.

I've got both a home system, and a Neo CD-Z! For the most part, I enjoy the carts more, but some games are IMO just as good as the cart, or better. It's worh it for Metal Slug and Samurai spirits RPG alone!

hells ya!
i have a US cd system
and a cdz..
i had it for about a year or
two before i got my cart system
god bless SNK..
i love em so much..
i guess i got the cd systems
because they were the only
ones i could really get..
it was pre ebay days..
and there were not many places i
knew about that i could get a
cart system reliably... without a
credit card anyways
but i ve never regreted getting the
cd systems.
they are super cool!
i think the load times are tolerable..
i have all my favorites on the cd system..
all the fatal furys, kofs...
cool stuff..
i dont play it as much as my cart
system anymore but
i have on occasion broke em out just
to play some goodies like ff special
or some of the kofs

I had a modded CDZ and I loved it for the Slugs and Magical "Crack" II. But for the fighters, the system drove me nuts with all the load times. Now, that I've parted with my "Z" I will say that it's a great system for shooters and low-meg games, but ultimately the carts (either home or MVS) are the way to go!

Hey, all I have is a Neo CD. I'm getting an AES this summer... if I can scratch up the money. Its a nice european top-loader and I modded it myself to make it think its Japanese. It is a great way to enjoy some Neo titles, but Slug 2's slowdown during gameplay pisses me off. As for LB2, I love that game, and I'm trying to get a copy on AES for when I get my AES, but I got a snacky cake and releived myself before the first fight. I was gonna sell it anyway, but I ended up selling it WAY TO CHEAP for something to eat....

I own a Neo-Geo CDZ system. I've never had any problems with it (knock on
wood), and its used to play rare games like Zintrick (Jap) and Metal Slug 2
(English). The Neo CD is still a great system despite the load times, but my cart
system offers smooth gameplay with no interruptions (i.e. load times) between
matches.

I have a US top loader, CDZ, and a front loader. I have the CDZ out for the occasional game that I don't own on cart. For the most part, I just play carts.

Actually, I counted 17 CDs that I now own on home cart, so I probably need to sell some.

I guess a lot of people start out with the CD system, then move on to MVS or Home Carts. You can't argue with the cost effectiveness on CD games.

And load times? Some games are worse than others. I was playing Samurai Spirits III, and the load before each battle was about 30 seconds. No loading inbetween rounds either. And if you lose and continue with the same character, it only loads for like 5 seconds.

Games like that I can tolerate. KOF 99 on the other hand, loads like crazy and frequently too. I can only stand to play thru it single play.

So are there any other CD owners? I know there have to be more... Some guy just posted an awesome CD collection on the collectors page, take a look.

I have one and actually bought it after my Cart system. I use it mainly for games that would be out of my reach. I pick games up on ebay when they are cheap enough, so i dont complain. I have bought games on cd and then gone on to buy the cart as well.

I have yet to experience load times like last blade but of the games i have , i cant complain

Oh btw its a modded US top loader.

I have a unmodified JAP CDZ Machine, which is virtually unused from New. Although I do power it up Once a month to Play LB2 and KOF99. Additionally I have a USA Top Loader which I use for run of the mill titles like BBStars 2, Viewpoint,IronClad etc. May be selling the CDZ shortly so drop me a line if U want the details of the package on Offer. p.s Also have 42 CD Titles so spoilt for choice

Soon, I will be the owner of a US Neo Geo CD system. I can't wait. This is going to be my first Neo Geo system, besides Neo Geo Pocket Color. Hopefully it will arrive in the next few days.

Got AES in 1991 and CD in 1996 (I think...)

Real Bout 2-the newcomer was the worst Neo CD game I've ever had. I sold it last week.

I still have other Neo goodies..........

If your pad is dead , you can (in the UK) get the replacement microswitchs from the RS catalogue.

If any is interested , i'll look to find how much they are.

Congratulations on your purchase! The Neo is an awesome system, so in the end it doesn't matter what version you have.

Like I said I've started to lean towards Home Cart collecting, but I will keep my Neo CD and continue to play it and buy games for it.

Remember... the Neo CD say AES on it too.
