So the board keeps comming up saying work ram test. I can go into test mode and things seem okay and clear the memory and such.
Then when I restart back to the same thing.
So from what I can tell then it is a bad chip.

That sound about right. Any fix for such a thing or is it just junk now?

Thanks.

"Work RAM test"???

If it has an error, it will come up and say Work RAM Error and give an address and data written/read.

Yes when I turn it on it comes up with a black screen and white letters that say

Work Ram Test

I can go into test mode and all that but it always boots up to work ram test every time I restart.

Flip all of the dips on and see what you get.

Have you tried clearing the backup RAM yet?

Yes tried both of those when I first got the board. I thought maybe the dips were getting stuck and flipped them several times but it seems they work fine. But I still get the same thing.

If all DIPs are on it'll do a backup RAM test... That's why I was asking.

Take a multimeter and check each individual switch on the dip switches to make sure a bunch of them are not permanently latched. The way you tell the story sounds like something is wrong with the Neo FO chip

Also try physically shorting out the back up ram to clear the memory.

I'll do the meter check as soon as I can but don't know how to short the chip.

When I flip all the switches it seems to do what it should. I can get into test mode and stuff like that but once I turn them all back it boots up to work ram test.

Should I flip them all at once rather than just one power on. flip it back off and on with the next one and power on, and so on?

There are 8 dips total. Make sure all of the dips are set OFF (up) except number 7, which should be set to ON. I've accidentally hit a dip when working on the cab more than a few times and was stuck with a complete black screen or error messages. It usually takes me a good 10 minutes before I realize what I did. Check your dips and make sure that 7 is ON.

Okay I done more playing with the switches and I either get the crosshatch when the dips are on and can go through the tests there, or when off I get the work ram test screen.
