I want to purchase a Neo Geo candy cab but am having a hard time locating one. I live in PA. Shipping charges are not a problem so I can buy from anywhere in the U.S. although I would prefer to pick it up. I am looking for one with a 29 or 33 inch monitor. Does anyone know where I can find one? I also want the cab to be in as like new condition as possible even though I know this can be difficult but I refuse to spend a decent amount of money on a cab that is dinged up and not well taken care of. Anyone that can help I appreciate it.

Try the forum marketplace. There were a couple of cabs posted to my recollection. There is a group buy for some Egret II's that looks like a good deal.

Thanks, that 29 is in decent shape. Anyone know any reliable and inexpensive shipping companies. That place quoted me around $300 to $350. Didn't want to spend that much on shipping.

That's the way it is though. Outside of NAVL, there isnt' too much. And North Atlantic Van Lines not only cost a lot, but have a tendency to not secure things properly.

You either have to pay out the ass for shipping, or go get it yourself (which I've always done).

Maybe I'll just buy a supergun instead. A lot cheaper and I have a solid 36 inch Sony trinitron to run it. What do you think?

your decision. a supergun is way cheaper, but only a cabinet can bring you the true arcade experience.

Why does your thread title sound like you want to help people locate cabs?

It's the question mark in the first sentence. That's exactly what I thought, too.

As for locating, keep hitting craigslist. They do turn up from time to time, or get in with someone on a group buy like there was just recently. While a supergun is great fun and saves space, there is no comparison to having an actual cab.

Thats pretty much standard shipping prices. If you do get that neo, it looks like it needs a good scrubbing.

Shipping is the downside of owning any kind of cabinet, but once its in your place, you'll be glad you made the plunge.

I prefer a neo cab. Would most of that stuff come off the 29 after a good cleaning? The guy said it had a lot of tape marks and scuffs from being shipped in the past. Other than that, he said the monitor is perfect and there are no noticable dents. I don't know, it would cost about $1,000 with shipping. Don't know if that cab is worth that much.

candy cabs are a bit harder to restore, one of the many reasons I prefer the big reds. The stuff will come off, or at least you'd have to sand and repaint.

But then again, unless it's nextdoor it's not like you're gonna get one.

To me Candys are easier to restore because they are plastic.I could even fill in a hole, bond, paint, wax and it will look like new.Its just like body work on a car.I use to have a big SF2 machine which all the wood dry rotted.I ended up smashing it to pieces with a sledge hammer. Those American wooden cabs are just way too big.

Goo gone for the tape, and magic erasers for the rest. Might look at some replacement sticks and buttons while you're at it.
