Cab was on running as normal and my mates said to me "can you smell burning?"

So were all franticly thinking the house is on fire lol

Turns out its the Neo-Geo MVS

The thing was smoking, I turned it off had a good look and it looks ok (as in not on fire) I tried to turn it back on after leaving it for a while, the cab will turn on the lights will come on etc but the monitor does not come on and also usually you can hear a fan when the machine is on, that no longer happens. On the power block at the back there is a red light thats on.

Help please so whats wrong with my machine and how do I fix it?

What was the smoke coming from? The monitor, pcb, psu? Look for something that has burnt out. Are the lights powered by ac, or the psu? What powers the fan?

Do the fans run off the power supply? If so I'd say your power supply has gone up in smoke.

Yeah, if the fan isn't running, it's most likely the power supply since it being out would also kill the monitor. As the others suggested, follow your nose...it always knows...the flavor of fruit...er...a...smoke.

I had something like that happen to my cab. Turns out the flyback went out. I ended up swapping the chassis with a good used one, I kept the crt because it still looked good.
