Here is a screen shot of a new feature I have been adding to the UNIVERSE BIOS.

<img src="http://unibios.free.fr/uni-error.png" alt=" - " />

Basically with this new feature it may be possible that people with dodgy MVS hardware may still be able to play games by allowing the system to carry on running after a hardware error is detected.

Yup, you can skip over all errors;

z80
workram
backupram
color bank 0
color bank 1
vram
calandar
system rom
memory card

Some errors will be quite fatal though if its an entire ram chip down for example.

Off-topic: Can anyone give me the link to that webpage which had information about the MVS error codes and how to fix them?

supergoose79:
can this new feature detect the problem, that causes a z80 error?
Unfortuneatly not, there is only a single byte of data that the 68000 or system bios can actually see from the Z80 side of things. A Z80 error ocures when this byte dosent return the correct value within a set time.

I sopose it could be possible to write a replacement Z80 bios that could test the hardware more and then pass the data through this single byte to the 68000 side but that would probably be quite a task and in most cases wouldent work anyway when there was an error (which is probably why SNK never did it in the first place).

You have exactly the needed soldering skills: ZERO. Read my lips: NO-MORE-SOLDERING. You just need a flat screwdriver to unplug the old bios and pop in the new one.
Check bios.cps2shock.com .
