Why does the '24-bit' forum exist to begin with?

All its content should be just part of (NeoGeo) 'general discussion', isn't it?

Sometimes, some people just want to be that specific. That asshole, Deuce, practically lives there.

P.S. remember when it used to be called '16-bit'?

Tak, I believe that I laid out an effective forum plan many months ago. We really need to simplify this place. Only cutting out one or two subforums won't cut it.

My suggestion is to merge the '24-bit' (16-bit was more accurate btw) forum into the main 'general' one, and leave the others (NGP, NG64...) grouped under the 'side sistem' name. That should maybe include Atomiswave as well. :)

The change to 24 bit was a joke. I think it's funny.

Rade, what was your plan for culling the excess forums?

Neo-Geo.Com/Forums

1. General Neo Geo
a) NeoGeo / SNKP-Talk - News, Rumours and General Discussion about SNKP, the Neo Geo system and it's cranky fans.
b) Neo-Gatherings
c) Tech Support

2. International
a) All non-English Neo-talk. No other sub forums. Should not only be collapsible, but deletable by a mod at any given moment with no hope of a back-up. Let's reintroduce some of these personalities back into the 'real' forum.

3. Market - No Changes
a) Neo Selling
b) Neo Wanted
c) Everything Else
d) Feedback.

4. Gaming/Hardcore Section
a) All Neo-Pocket, Hyper and general Arcade Machine talk here.
b) Gameplay
c) Online matchup

5. Misc - goodbye, A/V
a) Unrelated
b) War-Room
c) Creative

6. Admin
a) Suggestions
b) Wiki
c) Best of.

There, now that doesn't cut too much out, but it restores the forum to a less cluttered state.

^I'd wager that some of the international forums, Italy especially, have lots of members who aren't that proficient in English, and nuking said forum would just mean the loss of said members.

Counter-productive, can't think of anyone, bar Fran, who's MIA just because said forums exist in the first place.

I was mostly kidding about nuking the international forums, but without guys like Shito and Fran particpating with the rest of the forum, things are definitely slightly less interesting.

Maybe we can have them post outside of Int. on contract or something.

At the end of the day, a place on the web this niche should not have so many forums. To add insult to injury, as interest in the Neo wained and people started to leave, we just kept adding more forums.

I don't know about anyone else, but I just feel defeated when I go from forum to forum and see all the potentially good threads drown because no one knows they exist.

A shmup forum? C'mon.

Isn't a neo-pocket/hyper/arcade forum a little redundant (for the most part) - wouldn't that fit under the general SNKP forum?

In some ways I feel the arcade forum is an extension of tech support since it seems to be a forum where people are asking questions a lot, though not necessarily about really technical things.

I don't think they should be merged though.

I think Arcade Central is warranted to be it's own forum, since the Neo has its roots as an arcade platform basically, and a lot of gamers here truly enjoy arcade gaming.

But every non arcade system (consoles and handhelds) that wasn't put out by SNK can just be discussed in unrelated.

I honestly think that the 24-bit, NGPC and Hyper forums could be merged into "SNK Hardware" or something like that. Let's face it: it's the AES/MVS that get the most discussion. Most of the Hyper talk winds up being technical and revolving around the same few topics (ie. differences between rev1 and rev2 boards, pinouts, etc). And there simply isn't all that much talk about the NGPC, more's the pity.

For better or worse, I wish the Hyper was emulated. Most folks here have never even seen the games in motion (outside of Youtube). It's not a practical system to own for the majority of folks, and it sure would be nice to be able to play the games without lugging out a supergun and the rather hefty board. But that's another discussion.
