joy stick PROBLEM

just purchased my neo geo 1 month ago and got my first game today...
ok started to play svc today for the first time and my first problem started,
when i press it makes the player crouch and when i press the player crouches so then i figure out that the has a problem.
so i go to the splash screen and do the controller test...
press and it highlights
press and it highlights aswell so is my joystick fcuked or can it be fixed or do i just get another one....

Should probably be moved to tech suppport, you'd be more likely to get an answer there.
