Ok, first question who the hell are you noob. Do you know the difference between requesting and demanding. The price guide is there for a reason and was create for a reason, how am I being selfish by requesting it be updated. If you put in the time you think you have already done around here you would have noticed the rampant topic with people requesting market values. It needs to be done because it hasn't been done in years. And by the way everyone contributes around here in one way or another.
What authority do I have to make a official price guide for this blog, none. Basically the best person for the job is someone who deals and owns the vast majority of the MVS/AES library. Although I own a substantial amount of mvs carts I do not monitor the sell of or sell substantial amounts to get a fix on going rates. The only hardware I sell in huge amounts is cps 2 boards
Yes, you are right, I do know the difference between requesting and demanding, and I'll explain it to you because you want to know so badly.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/request
"the act of asking for something to be given or done, esp. as a favor or courtesy;"
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/demand
The first definition does not apply, because clearly you have no authority, otherwise you would have demanded through proper channels, instead of a whining rant on an internet forum.
The second definition is "to ask for peremptorily or urgently"
Obviously the urgently applies here, but peremptorily applies even better. I would continue to quote the dictionary, but I'm sure you get the gist.
A big difference between the two is the language you chose to make your demand with. "For the love of god, update the neo price guide" is harsh language, and not the assortment of words you would use when asking for a favor or a courtesy.
This is the internet, the only authority you need is to provide acceptable sources for your data. There is nothing stopping you from taking charge and leading an initiative to track game sales through the forums here, KLOV, shmups, eBay, craigslist, and every other place MVS and AES games are bought and sold, compiling the data, and then collating it into a format that most people can use.
And yes, I am a new user here, but I wasn't born yesterday. Obviously you guys have every reason to be entirely suspicious of new users, so I'm not going to fault you on looking at my post count, join date, and completely dismissing my opinion. I'm just trying to help, so this doesn't turn into a bitch-fest "Someone should update ____! Yeah totally! It sucks that ____ is not up to date! We all agree!" and then that's the end of the thread.
I'm pointing out that I've been all over the internet, and people are far less willing to help out with projects when the end user is so demanding.
As someone new to the NEO-GEO game purchasing hobby specifically, but a long time gamer, I find the current price guide still serves my needs. For someone who only purchases, and does not sell MVS games, it provides me a decent baseline of how common / rare certain titles are, and how demand factors in to farther augment the price. I'm only pointing this out, so you don't retort with "why don't YOU update the price list!"
