Sega Ages vol. 33 just came out last week. It was sold out the first week so I had to wait to get it. It comes with Fantasy Zone (arcade and Mark III version), Fantasy Zone II, Fantasy Zone game gear, Super Fantasy Zone, Opaopa (Fantasy Zone the Maze, Master System game), and Galactic Protector....

And the big surprise is an arcade version of Fantasy Zone II. Back in the day it was only a home title, but Sega has remade it so it looks like it was made on the Sega 16 arcade board. It's beautiful.

So far I am having the most fun with the Master System version of the first Fantasy Zone. It's so nostalgic. I love the Master System's graphics.

My friend told me that this was probably going to be the last Sega Ages released. If it's true, it makes me very very sad. There have been so many good Sega Ages games released (only recently, we had to wade through that sea of remake crap, which I think I have the weird Fantasy Zone remake in my closet.)

I highly recommend the collection. I'm having a really good time with it.

So its worth getting huh! you sure on Vol 33 being the Last in the Sega Ages Line? Because there is alot of games from sega that haven't be re-released in any of the comp collections.

Since you highy recommend vol 33 i am might get this week if play-asia has anymore stock.

Not sure that it's going to be the last one, a Japanese friend of mine who is obsessed with Sega told me. I hope it isn't. I really want a nice Shinobi compilation, a proper Streets of Rage collection and some Altered Beast action.

Fantasy Zone complete is well worth the money. Like the Space Harrier comp. (the real one, not the crap 3D remake), the Phantasy Star collection, and the Monster World collection, the compilation freels really complete. You can play almost every version of the game (Famicom versions of Fantasy Zone 1 and 2 are missing) and look at all the artwork and stuff.

I heard a rumor (maybe it was from kotaku?) that another Sonic the Hedgehog retro game collection was coming from Sega. Hopefully it will be cool.

I went and splurged on the Sega Direct version. I'm still waiting on my damn music box that was supposed to come with it. (they were on backorder even before the game came out) I've played the game a little bit and realize that I still suck at Fantasy Zone...still, very cool little collection.

Also, just thought I would let you know that if you hold right while pressing start at the title screen, it unlocks the sound test for every game on there.

Hell Yeah! I hope they do release a Shinobi Collection. I miss playing Shinobi on the Mega Drive. :)

I want PS2 Sega Ages 2500 volume 33 really bad, mainly for the newly made Fantasy Zone II created for the System 16 board. That's pretty much unheard of, that a game company would make a game based on the capability of an old arcade board, but release it on a modern console.

With that in mind, I hope in the near future Sega decides to make more games for their System 16 board (Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Shinobi, ESWAT sequels wanted) as well as their more powerful Super-Scaler boards, such as the 'X board' that powered After Burner, Thunder Blade, Super Monaco GP, and the 'Y Board' that ran Galaxy Force II, Power Drift, G-LOC.

Fantasy Zone II Sega 16 board remake is SO sweet. It looks and feels so nice. It really does the game justice.

Sega Ages Galaxy Force II collection is out and it's GREAT. Really recommend it. My friend has it and it's well worth getting.

An After Burner/Thunder Blade collection would be so fun.

I'm really impressed that they made FZ2 like that. I'll definitely have to check this out.

I gotta get that game, but I'll also have to get my PS2 modded for import games.

Yeah Galaxy Force II collection came out well over a year ago, July 2007. I've seen video of it, looks good. It's amazing that it took 19 years (1988 ==> 2007) for a perfect port to reach the home. I have the Saturn version that came out in 1998 -man it was really disappointing since it ran at half the framerate. emulation is currently really good but I want the PS2 release for the enhancements.

An After Burner/Thunder Blade collection would be so fun.

I agree. After Burner has been released in near perfect form on Saturn, and with some audio flaws on Dreamcast & Xbox (in Shenmue II) but a proper port of Thunder Blade has not. The best home version is on the X68000 computer, which is really not very accessable. So emulation remains the best option.

I know I'm late but I just found out there was free trial of the Fantasy Zone II System 16 remake for Windows

http://www.mtwo.co.jp/fz2trial/

This is just amazing if you're a fan of the series.

Up until the release of Fantasy Zone Complete Collection, I don't think Sega has ever done this before, that is, taken an 8-bit Master System & arcade game, remaking it for their main 16-bit arcade platform.

I think the 32X version is better than Saturn, correct me if I'm wrong.
