I know it's been said a thousand times, but all these forums, coupled with dwindling user participation, kills any real possibility of conversation and that oh so delicious drama.

Cut out the fat.

Merge crap back in to unrelated along with online gaming perhaps?

Personally I wouldn't mind re-merging a few sub-forums... but that's up to Shawn.

I would like to see this happen. However, this has come up several times and it never seems to pass the vote.

I swear you can put something in the crap section and get one hit. Take that same topic and put it in unrelated and you will have a bunch of hits.

Bottom line, people like to talk their crap in unrelated.

I have advocated merging forums for years.

I would return Unrelated to its former glory.

Vote Bobak in 2008.

...wait...

I, too, am in favor of trimming the fat. Too many subforums. Seems to me that most of the "Gaming" group could be merged into one, especially "King of Fighters." Flagship series or not, it seems a little superfluous when "Game Play" is right there. There's a lot of stuff going on in the Gaming forums that seems like it'd be better suited to "Unrelated," honestly... unless the site is going for more of a general gaming-site vibe with less SNK/SNKP-centric stuff. As many members as the site has, it simply doesn't seem to have that many people actively posting to merit dividing its user base into so many pieces.

Another vote for having less forums. It doesn't make any sense to keep expanding and having more forums when we are decreasing in member population.

I don't get it. If you want to do this, why not just do it then? Who or what is stopping you exactly?

If there would be a test subforum, which one do you all think would make a good one?

It would need some consensus among the mods.

Merge all the non-SNK/SNKP fluff back into Unrelated.

Me, I'd also axe all the foreign-language forums, but hey, I subscribe to Denis Leary's foreign policy. ;P

The Hyper 64 forum is too confusing. Can we separate it into three different forums:
1. Hyper 64 Fighting games
2. Hyper 64 shooting games
3. Hyper 64 Racing games

It would be much more manageable like that.

That kind of implies they're standing in your way on this then.

Is this for real? Traffic is way down on these forums. It's pretty nuts not to want to streamline them.

I mean, if someone doesn't want to go to the work, that's one thing. I'm sure it'd take a while. But I would find it hard to fathom if they're actively opposing you on this.

Anyways. I don't think it really matters what test subform we'd use — only that it does get some regular posts, so you could tell the difference. I mean, cleaning up the A/V forums... Who would be able to tell, exactly?

Hey, that sig is completely relevant to this forum. It's the lyrics to Genjuro's SS64 music. :)

Unless it has something to do with plane tickets or penis pictures, it has absolutely nothing to do with this forum.

The other part of the problem is that there was a vote for it, which was a bad idea and was a sham.

Should've had something where you had to have at least a couple hundred posts or be registered for over a year or two in order to vote whether to keep Next-Gen or not.

But at any rate, the mods have the powers to streamline everything and get more forum activity.
