another Kof 2k1 problem!!!

When i played the kof2k1 for the first time,all the data in my memory card has been erased.(it asked me to load the data for the last stage,but i haven't use that neo geo to play 2k1 before)I don't know why.Also,i found that the level of the computer will improve after you save the game everytime.does anyone discover that?

I noticed that in 2k. Played it for several weeks without a mem card, after I got one and saved a game, some opponents were harder to beat...

I still don't know wether this is an illusion or not... obviously not (?!).
