I think you may have stumbled onto something here. That sounds very plausable.

Has anyone here had one of these kits or a bartop conversion made from one or possibly seen one in a bar location?

I've seen one on ebay, but it had none of the artwork listed from the flyer on it. I think I still have a pic of that one saved somewhere.

Anyone know where to get the overlay/decals from that kit? I have a merit megatouch in the garage that I wouldn't mind converting.

EASTERN REGIONAL SALES MGR. What's new from ACME 1996!!

Well the big show came and product was a plenty. It was great to see so many friends in the industry and meet some new NEO GEO supporters in the process. It was good clean fun playing the new games on the floor, going to one of the many social events, and "thumbwrestling" in the bar. The new titles from SNK included fighters, drivers, shooters, action, and sports. How is that for diversity? In many of my previous travels, I have heard there is a need for a good mix and variety of games for the NEO GEO system. If this is the case, than the 1996 ACME show delivered. More specifically, the show attendees really liked Turf Master Golf in our countertop conversion kit. It was funny when an operator would walk up to an old Merit 2808 cabinet, with our kit in it, look at his buddy and say, "Hey, we got about 15 in the warehouse we could convert to NEO GEO!"It's like a light bulb came on above his head when he finally saw what a countertop conversion can look like. Both the countertop conversion kit and NEO TURF MASTERS are available at authorized SNK distributors. We also received good response from "Path of the Warrior/Art of Fighting 3", the first motion capture video from SNK. The fluid motion of this fighter is a definite asset to the Art of Fighting Series, and a few of the characters cracked me up too. Many were surprised with the addictive nature of "Metal Slug", a great action game where one or two players battle in various combat scenes against the "enemy". It's like Mario and Luigi, but the characters have machine guns, and rocket launchers, or maybe they climb into a tank. The graphics are very detailed and it's easy for a player to become immersed into this action game. Both of these games will be available soon at authorized NEO GEO distributors. There is also some NEO GEO Puzzles and Drivers coming out in the near future that I am excited about. If you have any questions. please contact me at the numbers listed below. I'll do what I can for you.

Redrum - how often does player 1 bang his hand into the left side piece of wood using joystick and does the player 2 joystick position use ever conflict with player 1 :D: usage?

I've been thinking of making one similar, but looking at various pictures over the years the CP always looked too small for a 2p layout.

Honestly, how well do you like yours - pros and cons?

Hmm, looks neat. I would have to agree, the controls look very tight for playing with 2 people, but I suppose it could work if you moved things just a little bit. With a slightly deeper panel it would be possible to use the Pacific region button layout which I suppose would save more space horizontally.

Sorry, I don't think a MV1-C would be good for a bartop...

It takes up to much space vertically.

A/B/FZ: yes...

F: Maybe

Original/C: No

But didn't the flyer say it was an FZ and not the C. The C's seem way to big to fit in tiny bartop.

The only bartop conversion I've seen was a 1 player Bust A Move. A 2 player bartop would be worse than playing on my mini lol.

Seems like it might be a pain to change the cart.

Granted that machines like this aren't made for switching a cart two to three times a day, like you might want to do if you owned one of these at home.

Still pretty neat, although they seem really to be best suited for a single player.

I think a 1p tabletop would be cool, so long as it had say two external controller ports: one for player 1 and another for player 2. That would you could get some 2p action without necessarily crowding the screen.

It goes without saying that the countertop above is very cool. It look like the joysticks and your hands would actually block the view of the screen though.

I was totally unaware that there was an official counter top conversion kit. and what's stranger is i own the CP overlay and Side art stickers. It's been a while since i bought them, but if memory serves they came in a lot of arcade side art and marquees that i bought a few years ago on ebay. i always assumed they were for the 64 system but now i know.

you can see them in the last 2 seconds of the vid i made of my gameroom. i'd take new pics but there is a cab in that spot temporarily.

See, this is what happens when you don't bother to actually read the thing you posted.

I totally missed that the flyer said FZ. Please remember that I am old.

It was news to me until 5 minutes before I posted it. I had seen the overlays and sideart as well, but did not know about the kit till I saw this and then that paragraph from Neo Geo of old.
