How did people get their hands on MVS carts back in the day?

I'm talking... new. How did operators order carts? Were there catalogs or something? I know there were rentals... How did they get those? Who were cabs ordered from? What did all this stuff cost brand new?

Typically you had to go through your local distributor. I know that MVS used to cost more than AES games so I'd imagine that MVS kits were probably $300-400 back in the day.

There was an article on the Neo Geo in Hyper magazine (Australia) that said MVS kits cost about $500-1000US, which was still a lot less than a replacement game or cabinet. AES games were at least $200-250US at the time. The AES and MVS had physically different pcb connectors in order to dissuade arcade operators from buying the cheaper AES version of the game and using it on their MVS cabs.

The Neo Store sold Kits at launch at least in the year 2000 and later. I remember when SvC was released and it was JAMMA only at first. I can't remember the price but it was probably between $1500 - $2000.
