Anyone ever done or attempted this on a MVS-U4 Candy Cab? I've read that the monitor is able to rotate (somewhere), but don't see how the heck I would mount it vertically...

Thx!

Try putting it on it's back.... and unscrewing the bolts and rotating.

Hmm,I never thought about that, spins looks at the cab..that's work:buttrock:

I never rotated the monitor in my U4.. was going to do it once but didn't...I think you have to loosen the bolts, lift and spin it...first making sure no wires will be yanked via when turning it..

I remember saying that it was a bitch to do and he needed two people to be safe as the monitor is heavy.
..........the only person I know who I think rotated a U4 is member NGT

Can anyone confirm that the MVS-U4 is really rotatable?

I'm going to buy a MVS-U4 cabinet, but before buying it I want to verify that it's possible to set the monitor in vertical, as I only have room for one tiny cabinet and I also like Shmups

From what I've seen in some places it says it can be rotate but in the pictures it appears that the bezel and glass it is not prepared to be placed upright, is it?

The easiest way to tell if it's rotatable is to measure the screws holding the monitor in from top screw to bottom screw, and left to right. If the distances are equal, then you can rotate it.

Putting the cabinet on its back definitely makes this easier, but I highly recommend you get a buddy to help. If you accidentally neck the tube, you will not easily find a replacement, and if you do it'll cost you.

I don't have the cabinet and I can't take this measures... But from I see in this picture I thinks it's possible, isn't it?

It looks rotatable to me. I can draw a perfect square from screw to screw in Photoshop, if that indicates anything. And the bezel looks removable, which is a good sign.

Lot of thanks cgbartek for your answers, I have just seen the reply here and in arcade otaku forum.

Let's see if we can confirm the possibility of monitor rotation in the MVS-Ux

This issue with rotating the MVS-U4 (25" is what I own) is that there's too much metal above and below the monitor that would block it from rotating. There's also the issue of the bezel/frame, it's designed for a horizontal monitor and would block the top portion of the monitor from view if you were ever able to rotate it. If you need a small cab find a Neo 25 (which can rotate clockwise from horizontal to vertical., BUT NOT counterclockwise) or even better a Neo Candy 25 (which supposedly can rotate either way). I have a Neo 25, and I rotate it for vertical games that have a "flip" option or by default display correctly on a clockwise rotated monitor. Not sure if there's a way to flip the image with some sort of harware hack or not...

Hope this helps...

:tickled:..those are my old picks..holy crap, that's when I had the machine in the living room with a bunch of stuff to the left of it..:buttrock:...it's in my kitchen now

I never rotated the monitor but I believe member ngt has...

as far as I know it is rotatable

I'd just be sure to look open the rear door and make sure no wires are too short to do so and the AC plug is not tied up..That black wire plugs into the inside of the cab..
The back of the monitor is so close to the rear that you have to be carefull when turning it that something doesn't hit or a wire get pulled off/snapped off.

When you rotate the monitor you have to pull it forward to turn it, to where it should clear the metal..

I hear it takes two people..I never tried it..I'm too scare to mess something up..:loco:

I have two of these and they do not rotate. The monitor will not bolt back up and the front metal frame would have to be removed to see the full screen.
