I don't think I've seen a legit orange board as of yet.

The labels are fake, there's a seperate broken cased board he's selling, and he just so happens to have 9 million copies. I'm willing to bet they're bootlegs.

Come to think of it, is it me or do only 2/3 of those boards actually have "Capcom" written on the bottom? :conf:

Bootleg or not it would be fairly interesting to have one.

I actually purchased one of these from a different ebay seller a year back, except it had a green shell. Same label though. You can read about it here. They're only about 50% bootleg. They should still have legit maskroms that were likely taken off of suicided boards. Program EPROMs should be bootleg/reburned to the Hispanic or Euro version with no cover on them. Also, these are probably NOT phoenix versions, as the people who deal these boards seem to have a connection to a South American Capcom office who can reprogram the boards.

Thanks for the info. I never knew the CPS2 boot market was that big. Sounds like most of the orange boards have been raped and turned into Marvel vs Capcom.

So if the boards are being, I don't know if repaired is the right word, but repaired by a capcom office, does that not make them legit? Or at least just as legit as any Pheonixed version?

I don't know a whole lot about CPS hardware, but I'm trying to get into it, and at these prices I don't care if its a reused board so long as its done by Capcom.

Damn orange boards I have all have been converted into mvc, battery powered non phoenixed

Why would official capcom channels use badly improvised flash roms for in house conversions.

Stick with green and blue boards as the others are discriminated upon when it comes time to resell and are universally mentally ignored.

All I have are green/blue and gray boards.

Gray boards are cool but make sure you get a gray A board as well since it's not interchangeable with the green and blue. Only game worth getting on gray to me is Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha.

What about gray boards?

Only as a last resort. Like I said when times get hard you might need to flip them to survive and that harder to do with gray boards.

Zero 2 alpha comes in green.

I wouldnt trust that. Screen caps from MAME, no label, messed up case, phoenixed. Even though it's phoenixed I wouldnt trust it. I remember some guy selling progear that said it was phoenixed but turned out it was a boot. It had no label, too. Not to mention he wants like $390 for it.

Well it says in the auction that the roms are phoenixed... which means all the roms, original or not, have new re-written data on them. So if the pcb pics are taken, and it shows official rom stickers, because its phoenixed does that make it a boot?

If they work, then why the hell not. At such a price, reselling them shouldnt be a reason why you're buying it anyway.
