Check out my new setup:

neo-setup.jpg

After my roommate was getting tired of us bumping elbows while playing, I decided to do this to remedy the problem.

I made good use of an old capcom D&D jamma splitter cable. I modified it to split 1P and 2P across both cabs. The left cab is the "master" which has the PCB in it. The right is the "slave" with nothing in it but the splitter cable. Even when the power is off, everything on the right cab works (except the monitor, which is powered off).

Of course you have to be honest when playing, since you can manipulate both players from both cabs at the same time. I actually like it this way better. I don't want my roommate using my cab (the right one) since it has Sanwa JLW joysticks in it. He's really rough on joysticks, so American ones suit him better. Additionally, I keep my cab locked, so when my roommates want to play and I'm not around, they can just use the left cab by itself.

That's pretty cool. So do you have a NEO in each machine, running the same game at the same time? Or did you just split the video signal between both machines? (as you can guess, I don't quite get what you mean by JAMMA splitter)

Also, I find this kind of humorous, because from what I understand, isn't this the case with Street Fighter 4? Arcade owners have to order two machines because you can't play two on one machine.

Fuckin awesome!

the elbow room thing was why I love six slot machines, we play mostly fighters here and we needed the wiggle space.

It's impossible to run this partiular (and 99% of all neo geo) game through a networked setup with two PCBs and game cartridges. The "jamma splitter" is a special harness designed by Capcom for use in their Dungeons & Dragons games. It is designed to split the video and sound, as well as move player 3 and 4 controls to player 1 and 2 on cab#2. Confusing? Yea it is for the non-arcade operators/professionals.

I made a diagram in paint of how to make a homemade version of this harness, but it's at work. I'll post it tomorrow.

Actually, I'm pretty sure I understand that. Not completely, but enough to get a general idea. Pretty cool.

Andy, is your roomate rougher than you on the joysticks!!!? Man I find that hard to believe...ruffles!

OK seriously, I'm here bumping this thread so you can help me out and be pal 'cause I would like to do the same for my 2 MVS cabs, so schematics would be ace. Did you used some molex connectors or did you just ran the joystick ports all the way to the other cab? Also is there any need for circuitry to split the RGB signal for 2 monitors?

Thanks man!

No circuitry required for the monitor split. 5V video signals are plenty strong enough. I basically used the cable here and modified it slightly.

With this cable, cut off the option connector that goes to the CPS2 board and solder those wires onto the player 1 and 2 pins on the jamma splitter.

One thing to make a note about is that when the cable is used across stereo big red cabinets, one cabinet will only have the left speaker and one cab will only have the right speaker. The cable is wired up this way. DO NOT use a stereo and a mono cab together! You must have two mono cabs or two stereo cabs!

That's frickin' fantastic. Can't wait for your schematic, would definitely be interested in doing the same. :D

That is a really nice setup, I always like the fighting games on two different machines. The arcade that used to be in the mall by my house had a row of 8 machines for Soul Calibur II, all candy cabs. It was so luxurious to be able to have my own machine in VS fights. Im fixing to get a 4slot from the arcade I work at, it needs work, its pretty dinged up and has about 10 years of abuse (The monitor and board are in perfect condition though) but once I get that up and running, that looks like a cool future project get a 2nd one to link up for the fighters. But none the less, thats quite impressive and looks real nice.
