When does one need an AC Line Filter?

Just curious. I don't currently have one on my supergun. I have a traditional arcade power supply (one with a barrier strip, not an enclosed unit) that I'm plugging directly into house main.

I don't think so. Ive used arcade power supplies straight to the mains and my supergun will be the same. I've had zero problems.

I've only had problems with arcade monitors when not using a line filter, I'll get all kinds of crap and noise on the screen.

I never used one when I was hooking up boards to a commodore 1084 monitor though and never had any problems there.

Mmm I think it needs to be used when a monitor is involved. just powering boards though, should be mooooore than fine.
