How in the blue hell did Capcom lose the Fighters History lawsuit?

Don't get me wrong, I played Fighters History on the SNES and thought it was a decent game, how can you not when it's that similar to Street Fighter? But for the judge to throw out the case claiming that Fighters History was it's own intellectual property and *not* a blatant rip off of Street Fighter is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard.

Fighters History is the only fighting game where I can literally say to myself, "hey, this guy looks like Guile" and not only does that person look like him, but they have the same special moves. Same goes with the guy that looks like Ken, the guy that looks like Ryu, the guy that looks like Sagat, etc. (essentially Samchay = Sagat, Ray = Ken, Mizoguchi = Ryu, Matlock = Guile, the list goes on). I mean I think Data East would've had a better arguement if they just flat out lied and claimed it was a parody of Street Fighter. :oh_no:

Fighters History is not The King of Fighters, KOF actually has it's own ideas where as Fighters History is some ass-backwards copy of SF. Fighters History is also not Guilty Gear, which also had it's own original ideas. I can see that Capcom didn't really have an arguement vs KOF, but you've got to be kidding me to say that FH isnt a rip off of SF.

They lost the battle but won the war because right now your saying to yourself data who.

Beats me how they lost the suit as I don't understand legal voodoo but one thing for sure fighters history was not a noteworthy game anyway, dynamite was better.

Honest to god, I thought the first one (not the Neo version, not as good) was actually a pretty damn good game on its own! I really thought it was fun as hell. What guy looked like Guile? Ray? He looks nothing like Guile. The moves were badass in that, too. Really enjoyed that game a great deal, honestly.

I like how they slightly changed the appearance of the main characters along with slighty different looking special moves. Most notably the Ryu Hadouken, being replaced with the Mizoguchi "Migammazugacha" or whatever the hell he says.

Nah not Ray, Matlock. Ray had more of a Ken thing goin on.

And I swear to god I thought Mizoguchi had some sort of freak seizure sneeze attack when he did the hadouken. :tickled:

Capcom lost because they could not prove that their character designs were unique and non-derivative (they didn't invent "dude wearing gi").

Perhaps the court wasn't savvy enough to consider special moves as well.
