I mean seriously.....after playing all my favorite neo-geo games online LAG FREE against people all over the WORLD, I simply wonder why anyone is willing to buy these console compilation ports like Classics and Anthology for Wii/PS2.

Seriously guys, if you haven't discovered 2DF, you are missing out B-I-G TIME!!!!

2DF uses the Final Burn Alpha emulator to allow you to play ANY Neo-Geo arcade game over the internet with virtually hardly no lag! I've been playing all the SS games from 1-VSpecial and even completed a couple Metal Slug Solid games via co-op with no lag whatsoever!

Now I don't condone downloading roms unless you own the real game. In my case, I own all the MVS carts I just mentioned so I'm good to go. But hey, do want you want to do in the pricavy of your own home :D

Seriously....2DF is the greatest thing to hit the Capcom/Neogeo scene in like....forever! Go grab it NOW!!!! See you online :D :multi_co::multi_co::multi_co::multi_co::multi_co::multi_co:

If people don't buy the compilations and just download roms then SNK would lose a good deal of money, go bankrupt, and then no more SNK right? I mean roms are what almost killed SNK in the first place.

SNKP should go down in flames.

I love condescending Internet threads/comments that start with "ummm." It shows superiority.

Nothing beats the real thing for me,I haven't used my emu since i got my aes and recently my euro 6 slot.

It's funny because I too own a 6-slot(bought it from an old, now defunct gaming shop in Montery Park) and it's been sitting in a box collecting dust for years. What is the point of using the real thing when you can't connect it to others around the world and play against them with it?

There is absolutely nothing about the way Final Burn emulates NeoGeo games that is NOT 100% authentic! It emulates them to a tee! If my pc was mounted in an arcade neo-geo old school cab, even the hardest of hardcore SNK fans would not be able to tell the difference between the emu and the real thing, unless I Alt+Entered out of full screen.

Sometimes I often gaze in amazement at my PC monitor, and just sit there bewildered at how ridiculously awesome emulation is. I mean seriously....I don't think anything in the history of videogames has achieved something this monumentally impressive. Not even the birth of 3D games.

I understand your love for the real thing ratson, I truly can relate. But you gotta face the facts bro...playing neogeo games online against peeps halfway round the world with almost zero lag is so much fun it should be OUTLAWED :loco:

Well there was your problem....you played neo rage on an lcd monitor :) Yes, playing FBA on an actual CRT monitor would definitely make it look IDENTICAL to the arcade machine. It's all about which monitor you connect your PC to. Try it and you will be amazed :)

You seem to be missing one thing, the real thing has a sort of nostalgia to it. Actually having the hardware and playing it on a TV or in a Cab can make you remember some good times.

emulation doesnt do that, its just not the same.

LAG FREE against people all over the WORLD
[...]

I more or less stopped reading there. Unless they found a way of bypassing the laws of physics and such, there is no way in hell you'll be able to play a lag-free game against someone on the other side of the world. The latency is too high for that.

Have you tried it? Im not saying is completely lag free ALL the time with everyone, but it's pretty damn close, and certainly beats that other shitty service(cough*xbla*coughcough*)

GGPO is also a good online service, pretty much the same as 2dfighter, 2df has more games though. But if you want the good palyers for kof98/2k2, jump on ggpo.

I played some 2df, but kept getting out of sync with the guy I was playing against. Like, we'd both hit start, and that would go through and bring up VS mode, but from there neither of us would have the other's input. "Hey man you're just standing still" "WTF you are too!"

It's glitched up on my a few times too. Still, it's a not-terrible approach if you don't have anyone/an arcade to play fighters with.

I did Kaillera faithfully for years, playing against someone is very cool, I used to call my buddy on the phone in Fl and then we used to fire up one of them kailerra emulators and play Neo or CPS2 games, it was great! Little, very little hicups here and there, but not much at all to spoil the fun whatsoever.

It was cool back then, but I dunno I don't see the fun in it anymore, as a matter of fact I like the XBOX live scene with Fatal Fury Special and SSF2T they both have clans/ groups, rivalries and all kinds of shenanigans, I guess maybe one day I would go back to kaillera, but I hate the fact that you have to update your roms to match everyone else. I'm just not that much into emulation I guess, but I do crack open the MAME for hard to get PCB's.

Playing emulators is OK, but in IMO you're missing out on the concept that is arcade.

Playing against a person on a cab > online

Thread won.

Wow, thanks for dropping a pointless one-liner that was self-evident.

Most fighting game enthusiasts don't have any serious local competition, and if they do, the chances of finding *new* people to play is slim-to-none.

Playing on a cab is better -- no shit -- but it's nice to have alternatives.

For the most part SNKP is just not the SNK we're used to, that's for sure, but for all them weiners that hate SNKP 'cause is not the same anymore, good riddance. Apparently SNKP is here to stay and even though these collections they put out are not the greatest at least we have some SNK to talk about.

SNKP is not great, but it doesn't suck like most companies out there.
