It's not an inherent option in the console. To play a game in english, the software itself must have an english option. A good deal of games I've played have such an option, or enough appears in english that it doesn't really matter.
Hi Danthor,
Thanks for getting back to me. I am a little puzzled. Perhaps you can sort this out for me.
The seller of eBay Item#290227089591 (A Japanese Neo Geo CD Game), states in his listing that although the game he is selling is the Japanese version of the game, it will display the game in either Japanese or English depending on the REGION of the System.
The way I understand that is, if I have a Neo Geo CD of USA Region, the game will automatically play in English. If I have a Neo Geo CD of Japanese Region, the game will play in Japanese.
The way I understand your reply is, a Japanese Neo Geo CDZ console will also allow me play a game in English depending on the SOFTWARE that is inserted into the console.
Is it the individual software that determines if a game can be played in ENGLISH or is it the REGION of the system?
When you say that I will be able to play the game in ENGLISH, does that mean that both the text and the speech in the game will be in English?
I am trying to determine which Neo Geo CD console would be best for me. I know that a Neo Geo CDZ console loads games a little faster than a Neo Geo CD console but it is only available as a Japanese Region Console. According to that eBay seller, a USA Region Neo Geo CD console will play all Neo Geo CD games in ENGLISH. It is a difficult choice to make.
The absolutely ideal thing for me, would be to know that a Neo Geo CDZ console will also play games in ENGLISH, like you said depending on the software. If so, will the software prompt me to choose ENGLISH or Japanese as a language choice as soon as I insert the game into the CDZ console?
Please let me know what you think. I look forward to hearing your reply.
Thanks.
