There's a catch here, the bootlegs run on the original hardware board, albeit slightly modified for one reason or another. (See: CPS2 boots)

Here's the deal. I want Hyper Street Fighter II. I have not been able to find it *ANYWHERE*. IMO Phoenixed is better, but then it raises the question of whether or not anything else in the board has been modified. I've seen bootleg HSF2 boards on CPS2 hardware, and then of course, theres MAME. So if you were in my situation and absolutely could not find the game you wanted, but you had an empty cab, which would you choose?

I would wait until the first snow of winter and begin training to take the gold in downhill sledding in 2010. An empty arcade machine's gotta' be perfect for that.

Assuming the bootleg actually plays perfectly, then bootleg all the way. Emulators on a computer don't feel the same. If I can get that same game in a cab with the actual buttons and sticks they were intended for, then sign me up.

With all that said, I've always had better luck with emulators playing better than bootlegs.

i wasnt a fan of hsf2. i prefer ssf2t. so id say get that, but i assume you already have it.

in that case, and in this specific case, a boot is likely no different from the original. i doubt itll be riddled with glitches or anything much like a lot of neo boots or just other boots in general.

so id say go for the boot just dont spend too much.

Put MAME in the cab. If set up correctly hardly anyone would even know its emulated if they just saw the game without the bootup sequence. Plus itll save you cash in the long run, since loading up another game will cost you nothing as opposed to buying another CPS2 B board and fucking around with changing boards.

Is this a real question? Unofficial game on real hardware vs. sprite flicker.
