I recently purchased an ST-V PCB and was thinking about getting carts for Saturn games I enjoyed (to play them in their true form) and was wondering if anyone who has played both has noticed enough of an improvement to justify rebuying the games. A few of the games I would think about rebuying are:

All Japan Pro Wrestling Featuring Virtua
Batman Forever
Groove On Fight
Radiant Silvergun
Purikura Daisakusen

Opinions from anyone who has played both versions of these (or other) games on both formats would be appreciated.

I know one of them. It's not super specific but it is damning and I have heard this before:

System16.com said:
The [Radiant Silvergun] Japanese cart works with either the Japan or USA bios. Using the Japan bios shows a special shot screen for different button combinations, the USA bios doesn't show this and has a seriously dumbed down and crippled control scheme.

If you have a Japanese bios, then I don't have anything really to contribute.

>>edit>>

I also now recall hearing that Groove on Fight lost frames of animation in the port to the Saturn. That's probably all I know.

RSG was actually developed for the Saturn and ported to the ST-V iirc.

I've heard the same.

Musically, the game is programmed differently for the Saturn. I'm too far out to know or remember the technical differences.

Edit: I've always heard about the two different RSG ST-V control schemes, but don't understand one bit what they're talking about. I also swear I've had a different version than the typical ST-V cart (I've owned 3-4 carts in the past), but it's been a while since I've been into that game. I've posted my observations/confusions on the differences here before.

Double Edit: Fuzzy memory, but...

I believe in the Saturn version you always had a choice of branching paths after the second level (as well as later on). I think in the ST-V version that option was removed in some carts and the game would automatically place you one direction or another based on score - and another version would let you choose your path (if you scored high enough). I'm almost sure that was it. Also, I'm 90% sure the latter had all of the bosses whereas the more common one was missing 4 of them. It's been a long time - I hope my information isn't way off base. I know it's been commonly understood that the Saturn version had "4 extra bosses", but I believe that to be untrue considering my experiences.

This is true - the Saturn version sucks compared to the ST-V, as about 1/4th of the frames are cut. This could have easily been remedied by utilizing the 4MEG cart; The game requires the 1MEG. The only advantage the Saturn version seems to have is the sound effects, as maybe it's just me, but they seem to sound better than the ST-V verison. Music appears to be the same quality as CD though. The only drawback to the ST-V version is that the game only works on a JP bios. If you get a multi-bios that has been floating around, it will play in Jenglish if you select US region. Also the loading time removal on the ST-V version is great as well, because the loading times on the Saturn version sucks; takes about 7-10 seconds.

Another thing that has went unmentioned on Radiant Silvergun: The Saturn version has anime style cutscenes, obviously the ST-V cart does not.

Prikura Daisakusen on Saturn has a gallery mode which features some pictures and narration from the characters. First prints include a calender with the packaging. Also the Saturn one limits your credits, but it does let you map the dodge function to an extra button on the controller - the ST-V version requires you to double tap the joystick in whichever direction.

The only game I've played on both Saturn and ST-V is Die Hard Arcade (Dynamite Deka), and although the Saturn version is definately playable (and the game mechanic and visuals seem identical to me), the lack of load times in the Titan version makes a HUGE difference.

Groove On Fight has quite a few load times on Saturn, but I've never played the ST-V version.

RSG on Saturn is awesome and I can not imagine that the Titan cart is any better. The Saturn version also includes both an Arcade and Saturn mode, and from what I've heard it's the definitive version.
