For general organization. I've thought about starting a group or two, but thought twice.

I also believe future sub-forums could be tested there - or vice versa have some sub forums or stickies moved into that space (wrestling, cars, MMA, football, music, home audio, crap).

I don't think this is a good idea. At the moment we're discussing a re-merge of several new subforums with Unrelated or other main forums to stop post fragmentation. In this light, opening what would be yet another bunch of subforums seems counter-productive.

If people don't use the groups for discussion then i really don't see their point. Unless of course people are say uploading photos to them (is this option even enabled?).

I don't think photo-uploading is a wise idea, anyway. There are plenty of free image hosts out there.

I see your point.

At the moment, the social groups are nothing more than sort of open address books, they're meant as a way to tell people what you like/are interested in. Of course it would be cool to be able to start threads in there, that goes without saying. I'm not against this option per se, it just doesn't seem logical to me to reduce the number of (bbs-fragmenting) subforums on one side and then add new ones on another.

Let Unrelated be your social groups discussion forum for now, you could always start a thread there with a title like this: "[Social Group - <enter name here>] - Comments and discussion", add links to the social group(s) in question to it and start discussing.

I agree with this.
