I found this paragraph on wikipedia

On August 31, 2007, SNK stopped offering maintenance and repairs to Neo Geo home consoles, handhelds, and games.[2] However, they will continue to repair their arcade hardware.

I have a Neo CD, so if that breaks in the sense what can SNK provide/do that shops can't or should this go in Tech support

lol...

if something breaks, send it to one of the many people who know how to fix the systems.

not that I can think of. But the best advice is to wrap up your old SNK systems and put them away for good.

Save your neogeo - play on emulators.

well as long as someone can take my HD out of my Neo Geo CD and put it into another system as I have nearly every game saved on there, then that is cool

I'll tell you how it will affect you. You'll have to buy another unit.

That was hard.

why would someone play regular neo cds?

what a fucking waste of time. this isn't 1995 anymore. There are better options. Run a neoCD emu on your computer and play your originals on that if you have to.

It's a cool system. Brings back memories. When I used to not have one, I was like, "Remember that thing?" I had to get some new ones. When you're playing on the emulator it's all like, "This sucks because it's an emulator." You're just hating.

Th reason they gave for not giving doing any more repairs to the AES (and the other home systems) was that parts were getting increasingly hard to find. So presumably they wanted to have more parts to focus just on MVS repairs. I'm not sure which parts they mean- some of the Neo's parts like the CPU were used on many other computers so they couldn't be that rare. They probably also want people to move to more readily available systems like the PS2 and PS3.

I'd guess it's the custom Neo chips that are the problem, I'd doubt they're making any more of those. Finding the 68000 and Z80 CPUs won't be the issue.

No, when I play on an emulator I focus on the game itself, not the emulator, not the medium. And neo CDs on the emulator run a lot smoother because there's little to no loadtime.

Try not to hate on emulators just because they remind everyone how stupid collectors are.

Your Neo CD has a hard drive? :spock:

mine does. threw a 300 GB seagate in there. games load super fast. HD support was only available in a limited run of Fatal Fury 3 themed front loaders.
