Hey folks, been a while since I've been around, but I'm looking for this little gem here. let me know if you've got something you're thinking of parting with and we will work something out. only requests, its not a bootleg, its not phoenixed, and the label is in nice condition.

Why would you want it not to be phoenixed? You'd rather buy a board that might die on you? :conf:

Not so much as rare as they are one of the two most expensive, but yes they still are not MVC common.

Thanx Mainman :)
Is this the most bootlegged game? I have never seen a MVC Jpn board, I have seen a few blue boards turn up on Ebay but never a green one.

yo, lets get a bump on this. i'm still on the lookout. basically I'm looking at about $400 EMS from excellentcom ($330 plus shipping). I haven't hollered at tops yet, so I'll get on that, but I'm expecting the price to be similar and I'd still be looking at expensive EMS shipping. I'd be willing to offer a dependable seller $350 shipped to my door which imho is a pretty high offer as I've seen some go for around $250 earlier in the year. If I'm way off base on this, please feel free to jump in this thread and let me know. At this point I may be willing to entertain the idea of buying a blue US board.

to answer some questions and respond to comments:
tony starks- it is one of the rarer green titles, not as rare as US progear. More of a high demand thing cause its an awesome game

hewitson- 2 reasons.
1. if a board suicides, it can easily be phoenixed, however, once its suicided, it can never run off the original roms again. Being the OCD nerd that I am I want it original if possible. Obviously if it were to die in my possession, I would sure phoenix it, or rather have raz do it. But I'd like to think I would change the battery before that happens.
2. Also, lots of shops push bootlegs of this game as phoenix versions so I would hate for someone with one who did not know of this to accidentally pass a bootleg on to me.

Dinodoedoe- thanks, I made sure to ask coin op before making this thread. they are out of stock and way overpriced. Excellentcom has it in stock for about $100 less than that.

Seth- thanks, and yes, lets game. I've got sunday available if your down for then. i just got in a gigawing black board and raiden 2 (so classic). Any chance you could help with the battery swap on an all in one board? Not really sure how this goes, but from what I understand, once they die they make excellent doorstops.

Although the the U.S version of progear is a throw together often badly constructed censored release by the former capcom coin-op, it is as you stated rare. It is a high end collectors items especially in kit form, so when you berated it by saying you would in desperation entertain buying it, you shocked me. There not to many people who would casually sale you that board.

If you came across a green progear for $250, it means it was a boot or someone was short on their rent.

Caution, changing the battery on a all in one is trickier because the design is different and the whole you have 5 minutes of unpowered reserves is marginal. When I changed the battery on my all in one MVC I noticed the addition of a current limiter which made attaching the helper battery more difficult as I had to solder it to a micro resistor.

thanks main man. yeah, i know a blue one is very unlikely to happen. i'm just having fun at this point as it seems like no one wants to casually sell me a green.

no, i know the seller of that one, he is not the type to sell a boot leg. $250 was a legit board. of course that was a while ago now back when i didn't have money to buy it.

Dude, thanks for the heads up on the all in 1 board. I probably would have done something silly and killed it otherwise. I'll have to research this and not play it too much until then just to be paranoid.

Ironically the green version is the better one as its not censored, however many people are unaware that green progears uses flash roms which are the same for cps 3 hardware and are not trustworthy. Although my progear runs just fine I have had many cps 3 flash roms go bad on me. I just can take comfort that there have been no reports to back up my theory.

Better step up and change the battery right away on that gigawing, its on borrowed time. If someone would donate a dead all in one to me I could research phoenixing them. I just need the datasheet to the flash rom chip which I would then build a adapter then dump the image from the flash rom to fiqure how its compiled, recompile it with raz fix, burn it, then see what happens.

.

You mentioned the green progear uses flash roms...doesn't the blue one use them also? I remember changing the battery on a blue one I had (and sold like a dope), and if I'm not mistaken, it had the flash roms

Huh, yeah now that I see those pics I'm positive my blue Progear had flash roms, just like my green one. It didn't look anything like a normal CPS-2 B-board. Did they make a few different versions possibly? I've seen a Progear boot before, so I'm sure mine was legit.

Strange, very strange. I hate to tell you this but if you had a blue progear who inners looked like a green progear then you had a EXTREMELY rare japanese capcom coin-op run of the board as opposed to the common U.S capcom made on request throw together progear. I have to admit I never seen a blue progear that use the same construction of a green one. Should not have sold it.

BTW, a progear boot could past as a blue board release since capcom did use eproms in the progear they sold, the only real way to tell is to do a checksum test of eproms 3 and 4 with the mame set since a really cleaver bootlegger can even altar raz opening splash screen
