Hello is there anybody out here that can tell me how to check if my monitor or other part is broken?I recently bought a Gauntlet cab(1985).The seller said the monitor didn't work but when i got home it did, been playing it for 2 weeks and now when i turn the power on the monitor stays dead but i also have no sound(i know for sure the speakers work)are monitor and speakers linked?Sorry if this is a stupid question but i am not as technical as most people here, but i'm getting there.Hope to get answers real soon.

greets from a arcade fan who wants to save this cab:crying:

sorry this thread should be in tech support.can it be moved there?

The only way that sound and monitor is related is if you have no power. No power coming in = no monitor and no mobo operation. Check your power supply fuse then check your power supply. Your monitor could be fine.

Thanx but the powersupply is working cause the coin slots and the led on the mainboard do light up.

Though they may be lit, that doesn't rule out the issue with the power supply. Make sure all your voltages are within range. If that's okay, it's most likely the monitor board.

But you have no sound...if you have a cart installed and have attract sounds on and are getting no sound, it sounds like a power supply issue.

Monitor and speakers are NOT linked. Only time I've seen that is in the old ass cabs before jamma. My Mario cab has volume control on the monitor board.

Sounds like a loose wire, perhaps. Not sure where. Better get out a multi meter and start checking wires.

Just to let you know, I had a goldie do the same thing. LED on the MVS PCB and that was it. No sound yet verified in attract mode sound on. Swapped out the cabs original power supply with a peter chou (sp?) power supply as I had one on hand and everything worked dandy again.

I cheated a little first, I put the PCB in another cab to verify it was working then connected the "problem cab" monitor to the cab right beside it. It was strange playing a game on one cab and seeing the picture on the cab beside it instead of the cab in front of you.

I could have just used a multimeter but didn't have one easily reachable.
