Does MK 2, 3, or 4 need a seperate sound board? Is there a good place to get pictures of the board. Sellers on e-bay say working but everyone has diffeent board pics? some single + others double?

My MK2 has a seperate sound board. I know there's some bootlegs that are only single boards though. As for MK3 and MK4, I've never seen one, so I couldn't say.

MK1 and MK2 both use a sound board. I've only seen bootleg boards of MK1 around, but they are 2 boards on top of eachother.

MK1 is released in 2 versions. The T-Unit version and the earlier version. Both use a sound board, but the sound boards are (as far as i know) not compatible.

As you might expect, the MK1 T-Unit version looks just like other t-unit games, like Nba Jam, and Jam TE for example.

MK2 looks like a t-unit, but it has a board mounted upside down on the mainboard. Still uses a sound board.

Mk3 uses the WOLF unit hardware, and is a single board design, just like Nba Hangtime. No sound board on MK3, UMK3 and MK4.

When buying a MK1 or MK2 i would make sure all the wiring to the sound board is included.

Those cables are for the sound. If the MK1 is like my MK1 (I have 1 and 2!), then you'll need a small ribbon cable, and that other bundle of cable shown in the picture above. They basically give power to the sound board, and send the sound to the main PCB, then to the JAMMA harness, etc.

If anybody needs it, I have a PDF manual for MK 1, which includes wireing diagrams.

When I got my MK2 boardset the connecting leads for the sound board were missing, had to hard wire them only to find a bad rom on the sound board :( Its now fixed :) )
