I don't see anything wrong with a legit member making a single post promoting a website. If he was doing it all the time, it would get annoying fast, but as-is it's harmless enough.

Of course there's the whole argument of, "well what if everybody did it" but who the hell cares because everybody isn't doing it and so it isn't a problem.

It was even posted in the correct forum: unrelated topics.

Precisely, or like you also said if he keeps doing it, it'll get really annoying fast.

The thing I really like about NG.com compared to a lot of other forums is the fact that I don't have to see advertisements every bloody second.

I see no problem in the occasional private promotion of a website of a buddy or something like that, of course it would not be okay to do that on a daily basis.
