I recently added the a GD-ROM setup to my Naomi-1 system... The GD-ROM games I have are Japanese... I bought a supposed Japanese Bios chip off a guy who sells them on ebay.

I of course tried to play the games as is just for shits and giggles, but of course it comes up with the " game not recognized" message, or something close to that.

My question is, has anyone done a bios swap on a Naomi-1 system?
If so, does anyone have pics or know where I can get pics so I make sure I take this thing apart and install the chip correctly?

Its pretty damn easy....the bios is located under where the dimm or naomi cart would go..you cant miss it!!

All you have to do is gently pry the current bios out, and then snap the new one in...theres a notch on the end of the eeprom for proper orientation...an eeprom puller would also be helpful to pull the old bios..but if you dont have one, just pry from one end then the other trying to do it as evenly as possible.

Thanks for the response, I will be fine removing and replacing the chip once I locate it...I actually use similar eproms at my shop. I just figure the chip I'm replacing wont look the same.

So do I have to remove the case off the system or can I get to it with the case on and just removing the dimm board?

I would look for myself but I'm still at work...thanks again

i know that you supposed to pull it with a puller but you can use a flat hear screw driver to slowly /gentlyslide it in on the end's, wiggle it out like 10% on each end @ a time
