I'm just starting to get back into Neo Geo scene with my recent purchase of a MVS cabinet. Probably about 10 years ago my brother and I owned an AES and remember reading about this Dion Dakis guy who ripped a lot of people off with converted carts, fake labels etc. The last information I was able to find about him was that he was being sued by SNK Playmore. Does anyone know what happened to this guy?

This is what I pulled from the glossery

Dion Dakis

Self proclaimed "Big-Tymer", Mr. Dakis (AKA "Dion" or "Crazy Dion") is being sued by Playmore (AKA "parent company and legal copyright holder of SNK and the Neo Geo") for copyright infringement. His antics have defrauded multiple collectors. He also possesses one of the largest Neo Geo collections on the planet, but he has sullied his own reputation with multiple bad deals, ridiculous and hateful banter, and lying to both fellow fans and SNK itself. His close business associate is Chris Ray, his company is NeoGeo Freak/NGF. Of the two, Mr. Dakis is known for being the salesman. Buyers should definitely beware. See NeoGeo Freak/NGF

Freaked/Freaking

Games that have been damaged by NeoGeo Freak (a fictitious company created by Dion Dakis and Chris Ray). "Freaking" includes (but is not limited to) several possibilities such as counterfeiting inserts to replace originals; changing official inserts into unofficial inserts and then selling them (without permission of the original copyright holder); illegally converting cartridges; replacing cartridge boxes; and/or stamping void stickers all over manuals, inserts, cartridges, etc. See NeoGeo Freak/NGF

More info I found on the web
On December 11th, 2002, SNK NEOGEO USA & Playmore Corporation were assisted by US Marshals and they successfully raided NGF (NeoGeo Freak). They confiscated a significant amount of alleged counterfeit products from Dion, and basically shut down all unauthorized sales until the court decides NGF's fate in an upcoming trial.
