im probably going to stick a pc in my 4 player cabinet one of these days. as much as i love original hardware, i can't imagine dealing with so many different ways of connecting the extra players. plus i dont want to lose having 49-way sticks for blitz/showtime.

so what are the best 3-4 player horizontal games? is there anything thats not a beat em up?:tickled:

King of Dragons!

Well, that's my favorite, anyway.

It's more of a slash-em-up than beat-em-up....:lolz:

oh wow, I didn't even read your actual post. I only read the thread title.

if you're going PC, then I'm not allowed to speak to you.

Surprise no one said C & D, AVP and D & D yet. Konami pretty much have the multiplayer market cornered back in the days however.

Captain America and The Avengers - 4 player
Battletoads - 3 player

Why do I believe Fixeight is 3 player? Klov.com says it's only 2 player. I used to own the game... memory must be fuzzy. If it is 3 player it'd be a great addition.

(League Bowling)
(Kizuna Encounter) :kekeke:

And I'll second you on that. Years ago I posted a half-joke thread about a split connector I made for all my 3/4 player arcade games (a wood block with a bunch of screws to wrap wires around). I ended up making a slightly more refined version with actual molex connectors in a stick housing, etc, but I'll tell you it was a pain to manage all of the modular connectors for every damn game I owned. You're going a good direction.

Definitely the first TMNT game would be on my list, I bought a Simpsons board awhile ago and it wasn't as good as I had remembered it being. NBA Jam TE and Rampage (original) would also be on my list.

I checked MAME resources via google and saw that Fixeight is in fact 3 player.

"0.112: Stephane Humbert fixed toaplan2.c driver to add controls for player 3 in FixEight (main set still remains unplayable). "

I don't know if this means all versions are unplayable (including the bootleg dump) or just the main version.

3 player shooter = worth checking out.

Konami was THE king of the 4 player games. Capcom had a few impressive ones (King of Dragons, Knights of the Round, D&D, etc.) Data East had Captain America and the Avengers, Atari Games (Super Sprint, Gauntlet and Gauntlet 2), Sega (Spider-Man, Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder, Hot Rod) and Technos (Double Dragon 3, Combatribes and WWE Wrestlefest). Some good, some meh.
