I can't stand how people on ebay will try to sell their arcade machines (beat up, old pieces of shit, no less) for a ton of money. What planet are these people one? Why do people think they can get away with some of the prices they ask? Where do they get off? Jesus.

I second that, man! What sucks is that I was over bid by $10 bucks on a minty 4-slot cab that looked almost new, so I say fuck that! It sold for only $330 with 4 games, including samurai shodown 2 and metal slug x!

You could have made it sell for more than "only".

I'm assuming you have never talked to a vending or distribution company.

Ya SERIOUSLY.

Try talking to Betsons here in NJ or try Automation Services in Milford, CT. I find the amount that people ask for on ebay ridiculous, At the same time if someone wants to pay that much for a machine they should've done their homework.

Not too long ago I mentioned the price of Neo MVS's went up @ Betsons due to a surge in home sales. The cab I bought was around $350. A few months ago I called back to check if they had any others. They quoted me $675.00 for a beat up 1 slot with a crap monitor. They said that if you want it refurbished it would be an extra $400-$600.

Times are a changin'.

People are claiming Benson's for GOOD prices? I can't believe it. Any part I've ever seen them sell has gone for three times the price it should.

They key to collecting arcade machines is patience. You will always find a good deal on the machine you want in due time. The best deals can always be had from private owners who just want to get rid of a machine in a timely manner (or the wife wants it gone, etc.). Often times, this is where vendors source machines (aside from auctions).

My big red from Betsons was the cheapest around at the time. All their prices went up ever since they were interviewed by Forbes.com. I woudn't go with a distributor ever again.

Don't get me started on their prices for arcade glass. Chris1 and myself have stories about prices that they've quoted. :)

Namco can't give them away right now.

That's because they're beat up pieces of shit. I do have a virtua cop near me for sale for 250 from them, but it just won't fit into my basement. Other than that, the ones near me are in SAD shape.

With gas prices going up, I am hoping to find some good locals in ads, CL or ebay...

People from cities 50-75 mi away are much less likely to bite.

:tickled:;)

I made the mistake of contacting them instead of going there..:emb::p..a Salesman saw $$$$

I should of just took my lazy ass over there..Atleast I could of told the salesman in person that he's out of his mind..

the "Salesman" qouted the Ms Pac Man replacement glass for something like $365.00...via an email and over the phone..I told them it was for an old machine

How the Fuck does a piece of glass cost that much..Is it possible?..is it because they sell the new Ms Pac Man coictail tables.(at what $3500.00

F THEM!!!..It's a hop skip and jump for me to go there but I still look online for parts..

.................
I recently got the new Glass and overlay from here.
http://pac-man.com/mspacman/cocktail/
$89 & $49 Shipped fast..

I "have" got some good deals from Betsons from the parts dept as I went there with a known price in mind... but forget about talking to a salesman for anything.I've learned this on several occasions....Avoid them like the plague...Go directly to the parts dept.
I got my new pinball Glass from them for $35.00 ..Four new Chrome Pinball legs and bolts for $17.00 ..and other misc parts...I still have shit on order with them that they still haven't got for me yet.
My Dad got a really nice Phantom Of The Opera Pinball Machine from them for a really great price(2-3 years ago)...

But I have seen some really ridiculous"WHAT!!!" prices on parts there too...

I want to buy a new power supply for my two slot, the price in my catalog they have is good compared to happs...and since I can pick it up(no shipping) ..I'm hoping they didn't up the price now:loco:

As I told my Dad..I want to go ask the Parts dept for a Glass quote the next time I go there just to see if they quote me something different.
I'm curious to see what new machines they have out on Free Play and U love grabbing up free Flyers..:p

Speaking of the glass.
I Cleaned my Carpets today with one of those cleaner machines so I had to move shit around and took some size comparison pictures.

Slideshow.

I have to admit......I'd not consider selling my own cabs for a cheap price,or for what atleast I see cabs/MVS cabs going for today...man they have really dropped.
I might have to be burried in my Big Red..:p

I'd "Hope' to get $200.00 maybe even $150.00 for that little Klax cab I have in my Bedroom.. ..It was a Galaga Mini(MK convert when I got it.
I paid $250.00 for it hoping to restore it to Galaga again..but I'll never get to it..It'll cost me too much.
I've put money into it,the Klax Board, new sticks, power supply, buttons and CP overlay..I think I paid $75.00 for the damned overlay:loco:...I was nuts about making the cab Klax at the time since my wife loves that game,...She doesn't touch the damn thing anymore.

I think $200.00 for it is too much but I hate the idea of losing money on it or dumping it....Man,$100.00 is nothing today but I might even consider that.
It would be best for someone wanting to restore it back to Galaga or make a Ms Pac Man Mini...but you might be able to get a finished machine for that price.
Could I ever sell it..I don't think so..I might be better off parting it out and dumbing the cabinet...I could really use the room in the bedroom but I hate the thought of keeping it in storage..Shit in storage means nothing to me.

If I put it up on eBay for $200.00 I think it'll be=(beat up, old pieces of shit, no less) for a ton of money. too..

That goes for my 2 Slot Neo Gold Woody..Ii too is taking up room in my bedroom..I think I paid $350.00 for it..I put work $$ into it,new sticks, power supply, overlay, locks, changed the coin door, corner protectors, bottom edge protectors.

I love the machine but If I could get $350.00 for it now I'd be lucky..So again I doubt I'll ever sell it.
See it go for any less would make me sick...

.............

Prices that I see Arcade Machines for on Ebay are ridiculous...I think it's operators who seem to think machines they bought at full price so many years ago are still worth the same price today..

Of just utter craziness in the head..

Uh maybe because you guys are after entire cabs is the reason your most likely end up paying more, not all games absolutely require the dedicated setup. I personally only have room for one generic astro cab which I swamp my pcb collection in and out. Betsons will make you pay out the butt since the home market is the only market left for them to distribute to since sega has poor distribution in North America. Namco has flat lined and is desperately trying to liquidate machines taken directly off the floor without being shop out and selling or in half the cases trying to sell them, buyer beware as is.

Well arcade collecting is a hobby that is fast becoming mainstream equivalent to collecting rc cars/planes or restoring cars. The more popular we make it the more we shoot ourselves in the foot by driving up prices. You don't know how much I want to get into cave but can not afford to because of the cult following of that company and the prices the pcb demand.

Spike don't you have enough cabs, I remember not to long ago you snapped and was thinking about selling all of them, maybe its time to slow down before you over saturate yourself with the hobby.

It's give or take.

An arcade operator will sell his dedicated Virtua Fighter cabinet for $1,200 USD.

A guy who has the same exact machine sitting around in his garage will sell it for $200.

I personally hate ebay especially when it comes to cabs. Many Sellers are try to make a quick buck by selling to people that don't know what they're buying. I personally would never buy a cab off the bay for this reason (Actually I did buy a gutted Big Red off there for $30 bucks not too long ago). I've never really saw it as such though. I've always saw it that cabs won't sell for crap, but strip the guts and it will sell for much more. Many people see it as they're paying you to haul it off so you don't have to mess with it.

I personally don't think any dedicated US neo cab is worth more than $500 by itself (Games may alter the price). But many people stand to think otherwise and as long as there's a person willing to pay it, so be it. The most I ever paid for neo cab was about $400 for a 4-25 v3. The next 2 neo cabs I really want are the Gold and the SS2 cab.
