yeah it looks like you killed it..im pretty sure if you turn it off while the game is writing to simms thats what happens...and that kinda looks like a dead cart screen though my dead carts are usually more blocky in appearance

sorry man

Yeah it sucks. Live and learn I guess.
I still have Second Impact to tide my SF3 cravings. So I am not too bummed about it.
I am just out the $175 bucks I was going to sell it for. Guess I will join everyone else who is waiting for a CPS3 phoenix fix:smirk:

The strange thing is I think I burnt the CPS3 "Now Loading" message into the tube. I noticed it today when I was playing another game. I can only see it when the screen is showing an all white image so its no biggie.
I had that garbeled mess on the screen for maby an hour and a half. It was not a completely still image as some of the white parts were moving abit. So I was thinking maby it will load the game into the ram and I could somehow flush the data from the service menu. How long do you have to have an image on the screen for it to burn in on these monitors?

I kinda want to get a new monitor now :(

Thats a sweet cabinet though. Custom overlay?

Yep. But its starting to peel abit. I am still deciding if I should do a custom one myself. Electricgrave has plans to do some reproduction cp overlays for the Q25 cabs. So I might just wait for that.

I don't know, looks like you only fucked the simms over as those were the devices being written to, cart should still work. Simms just will not magically lose the data thats on them just because you turned the power off.

does the cps3 have a battery that keeps the data in the rams?

im not really familiar with the hardware but it seems like it just has some garbled stuff in the ram, and needs to be reset/reloaded.

is there a dip or something that you can force a reload?

hey though, if you want another monitor for that, I would love to to buy that one from you as I have an empty aero city that would be perfect for. Seriously, let me know.

Yeah it does have a battery in the cart but the simms are the devices that were interrupted when data was being written to them, data corruption. But cps 3 is a fragile POS hardware there is a chance that by terminating the writing process somehow screwed the cart over too. This is a long shot but do you have extra simms avaliable.

Do this remove all the simms, then power up the board with cart and cd drive/ cd rom installed, if a screen come up complaining about memory then the carts ok, if not its dead

Thanks for the help guys. I will try it out but I doubt it will work. I tried the cart in my other 2nd strike mobo and all I got was a green garbled screen. But you never know.

@Seth - I am not looking to sell it right away, sorry. The monitor has some geometry and color alignment issues anyways. I may try and recap it myself. I need to improve my soldering skills before I try anything like that.

Well I tried the mobo and cart without the ram and got pretty much the same results. There was not as much blue shit on the screen and some more orange garbage......but yeah still messed up. I must have screwed up the cart since I have tried it with two different motherboards that had two different sets of ram simms.

damn, I'll remember next time I want to rewrite a cps3 game, I'll borrow an APC battery backup system from work.

i cant afford to be plunking down the ~$500 people ask for third strike more than once.

atleast with cps2 the games are cheap enough to replace, or you can just send em to raz for even less.

You say that now, but if you owned one, you'd change your mind. They are so awesome to have. Scary, but awesome when running right in a cab.

yuppers, once you play it on a cabinet there is no comparison. We have weekly street fighter gatherings/tourneys over here at my house (CvS2, ST, A3 and 3s) and most people really play 3s the most serious. Given that there are no more arcades directly in my area anymore its a last refuge for competitive, arcade play. And to me; just to keep that alive justifies the cost of the carts.
