gdrom problems. stuck at initializing system (edit: FIXED!)

i have a naomi 1, with a japanese bios. im using the capcom I/o but a sun psu.

it boots up to

--- naomi gd-rom system ---
initializing system......

please wait.....


ive been waiting for about half an hour.

without the gd attached i get an error 25, and the dimm board test is good except for the gdrom (since its disconnected.) when i try the test with the gdrom attached it just stays at 0%, and then says it timed out.

im about to just say fuck it all with this shit.

Did you get it fixed yet? Sorry I cant help you out but I recommend going to Sega-Naomi.com and I'm sure you will find your answer.

i fixed it!

i grabbed the whole gd rom assembly from one of my dreamcasts and popped it in the naomi.



i tried playing power smash/virtua tennis. it did work for a match or two, then it gave me an i/o error, and now whenever i start it up itll give me an i/o error. im using the capcom i/o and the little switch is set to 6 buttons per player.

but ggxxr is working fine. havent tried cvspro but im sure it works. and my powerstone cart works fine too.


i need to get new speakers already.

I thought the gdrom stopped spinnng once the game was loaded are u sure its the gdrom and not the dimm board

did you not read my last post?

the gd never spun up to begin with to load the game. it was a bad drive. replaced it with one from my dreamcast and it works perfectly now.
