Please see Post #6 for Sound Question.

I just picked up Sega Clutch Hitter which is a Sega System 18 board. These boards have a suicide battery...anyone familiar with them or have changed them in the past? I found some info online, but I wanted to see if any members here had any experience with it.

Thanks.

Not to go off topic or anything but...

...whats with all the emo arcade boards? What are these people thinking, "lets make our board suicide so when it dies the operator will switch to something else!" :spock:

$$$$

It leaves the arcade op with the choices:

Pay manufacturer to replace battery
Replace battery yourself -- voiding warranty
Replace PCB w/same
Replace PCB w/different

With 3 of the options the manufacturer is making money.
Replacing the battery yourself they no longer had to service your board.
So no matter what you do, the manufacturer wins.

It wasnt a lot of money, Ive gotten boards fixed by Sega and Capcom (when they still did it) and it cost $35-50 if nothing else was wrong with the board. Hardly worth their time in the big picture. (Imo) Guess thats why they stopped doing it.

Bullshit, suicide batteries were a bootleg-preventing measure. It has nothing to do with making more cash. By the time the boards would have died the games wouldnt have been moneymakers anymore anyway.

On top of the Battery question, after hooking up the board it has no sound. It's a standard Jamma mono hook up. I know it's not the speaker because my other boards work fine. The one thing I noticed was the volume control doesn't stop. I know the little volume knobs are supposed to stop. Any advice or does anyone know where to get jamma boards repaired, or does anyone here do it? The game is Sega Clutch Hitter.

Side Note: I sent a P.M. to Channelmaniac, but I wanted to cover all bases.
