Hello everyone, I just recently discovered this site. Anyway, I have had a NeoGeo CD system for about a year and a half, and I'm think about moving up to a home cart (AES?) system. Anyway, I have heard about various mods that I'd probably want to have done to the console, but I'm not sure who to get to do it. Also, what are some good sources for carts and systems (besides ebay). I know about Supersellers, and have bought Neo cd games from them. I don't mind loose carts even, I just want games, as long as they work! Will the controllers from my Neo Cd system work with the home cart system? Also, what are the different MVS/home cart convertors, and where can I get them? (I mean the actual adaptor things, not cart mods) But what the hell, where can I get cart mods too? I really want a cart system , but I would like a little more info if you know what I mean. Thanks everybody!

Hi Deadtech,
Well to start you off my website has info for the "newbie". It explains alot about what your asking. http://nickthfury.cjb.net/
Just go there and read the section "NeoGeo" It'll get you started.
I think you'll find ebay, supersellers & this website are some of the better places to buy neo stuff. You might want to watch the selling forum. People sell their neos & games all the time. The contollers from the cdrom system are interchangeable with the cart system. So no worries there.

who to get to do it

jmkurtz@macola.com

what are some good sources for carts and systems (besides ebay)?
http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~t_kuroda/GTA/home (Takeshi really rocks, games are super mint, first place to check out) http://member.nifty.ne.jp/igp/supersellers/index.html (2nd best one, but doesn't reply the email often, but once payment is sent, your games will be there, sooner or later) http://www.ayato.fr/c27.html (good prices in European standard, try to read a little bit French) http://www.retrogames.co.uk (in UK, good prices but limited selection on Neo) http://www.jnlgame.com (prices are too high, comparable to Telegames UK) http://www.nedgame.nl/ (Dutch retailer, they do have Neo-Geo stuff, just ask) http://dualnet.com/stockgames (Great places, but games come in and out fast, so check regularly) http://www.gamedude.com (Best US home cart selection, but prices are inconsistent) http://www.ravenvideogames.net (My friend Paul owns this store, prices are high, but they have a few surprises) http://www.raven.demon.co.uk (let me know if you have the contact with them) http://sixteenbit.tripod.com/16bit.htm (has a few games Superseller doesn't have) http://www.neo-geo.com (well, Shawn does have a few good deals here) http://www.atarihq.de (Best new NGCD selections on the net) http://www.telegames.co.uk (If you don't mind the prices) http://www.starlandvg.com http://www.mcvans.com http://www.multimedia1.com http://www.superfami.com http://www.cart-mart.com/shop/ (coming soon) http://www.kamenari.com/index.html (besides Neo, it has the best PC-FX selection) http://www.stuffjapan.com/index.shtml (just ask) http://www.game-masters.com http://www.ncsx.com (preorder your KOF 2000 here) http://auctions.yahoo.com (search under Neo Geo and bid with less competition) http://members.aol.com/retrox2/index1.html (heard few bad comments, deal at your own risk) http://www.playthegames.com/ http://www.hpo.net/users/texas/ (need to ask about Neo stuff) http://www.videogamedepot.com http://www.buyrite1.com (last place I would even bother) http://www.game-world.com http://www.japanvideogames.com http://utenti.tripod.it/megatone/denkipanda.html (coming soon)

If you don't mind loose carts, you might want to get an MVS system instead of home carts since the games are way cheaper, as far as system setup, perhaps one of the members here can explain in greater details, once it's setup, you can find the MVS carts from:
http://www.arcadegameshop.com/ (in UK, they have arcade system at home) http://www.fillmoregames.com/ http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~zcaz/ http://home.netvigator.com/~cosmicco http://www.bondeal.com.hk http://www.mak-jp.com http://www.gwtrading.com/index.shtml http://www.videoconnect.com http://www.coinopintl.com/index1.html http://www.as-i.com/ http://www.tbaytel.net/awsales/ http://www.alphaomegaamus.com/ http://www.automaticosvalls.com/default.html http://www.amusys.at/ http://www.apolloamusements.com/ http://www.arcadeheaven.co.uk/ http://www.arcadewizard.com/index.html http://www.ardeco.com/home.html http://www.bally.co.jp/English/indexEg.html http://blinkinsamusements.homestead.com/home.html http://www.jacksonville.net/~centsible/ http://www.coinop.net/ http://www.clarck.net/ http://www.thefunfactor.bc.ca/GMSALE~1.HTM http://www.eldoradogames.com/ http://www.maxpages.com/entertainment http://www.kunick-games.com/ http://www.mdgamesales.com/ http://www.arcadeclassic.com/ http://www.tradezone.com/tradesites/MAHAMMED.html http://www.replayamusements.com/ http://www.southwest.com.au/~tes/about.html http://www.pinballexchange.com/ http://www.thegameroom.com/ http://tng.hypermart.net/index.html http://www.tryinc.co.jp/ http://www.wwidevideo.com/ http://www.deithdist.com/home.html http://www.st.rim.or.jp/~echoll/ http://members.tripod.co.jp/funtom/ http://www.gfront.com/ http://www.peterboro.net/~recroom/index.htm http://www3.osk.3web.ne.jp/~tessin/ http://www.gamegod.com http://aeigames.com http://www.belamny.com http://www.rent-a-game.com http://www.coin.demon.co.uk http://www.tuning.com http://www.tab.at http://www.aus.at http://friko6.onet.pl/ko/pppiwko http://www.vnet.es/creideas http://www.maxpages.com/entertainment http://www.bumper.com.au http://www.zax.com.au http://www.ab-europe.co.uk (classified ads)

Oh, forgot your last question, yes, your NG controller (either control pad, controller pro, or old-style joystick) will work on all Neo-Geo system, but once you get the feel of the joysticks, you'll probably throw the control pads away.

God almighty! Is that the master list of links? They're incredibly helpful! Video Connection met its end a short while ago however.

Man!! Thanks everybody! Especially Vince (I got your email). This will definately help.
I was thinking about getting an MVS instead, but I think I would prefer a AES due to the ease of setup and use, as well as the smaller physical size. I am very curious about the MVS-to-AES convertors. Does anyone still make them? Are any of them NOT outrageously expensive? I know they aren't compatible with some of the later MVS carts, but that is not a big deal right now. Anyhow, thanks again for all the help!
