Funky fresh little beat em up. The music makes the game. Its a shame this game can't be emulated.

Uploaded some gameplay footage for anyone who might be curious

Part 1

Part 2

I wish this was ported to a home system. Was this better than DJ Boy in your opinion?

Awesome. The only time I ever saw this in an arcade was at the Excalibur in Las Vegas when we went on a family trip to Vegas in... 1994? 95? I didn't actually play it though. Never seen it again since and waiting for the protection to be figured out for emulation :(

Glad to see I'm not the only person on the boards that has a copy of this. It's pretty damn rare as well, took me a while to track it down circa 2005. BIG actually found one for me during one of his trades/purchases. Sadly, other than a few plays on it, it has sat on the shelf pretty neglected. Mostly because I need to convert the Candy so I can switch out the stereo sound for it. I also have a DJ Boy board sitting in the closet that I'd love to get working. Same issues, it plays fine on the candy, but has no sound. I wish I wasn't so lazy and would just rewire that cab.

I've heard of this game, but never seen it in motion.

Looks awesome.

The music is killer. I miss beat'em ups.

I was fortunate to play DJ Boy a bit back in the day, and from what I saw in that vid B Rap's gameplay is very similar. The other cool thing was the atmosphere both games present. The whole hip hop motif seems downright fun, and DJ Boy's lighthearted presentation was just as enjoyable. Wolfman Jack doing voiceover in that game was damn cool.

The only issue I had with DJ Boy was that it was hard to successfully attack enemies. It seemed that even when you were attacking, they'd be able to wail back. This seemed especially true of bosses.Of course, that didn't stop me from dumping tons of quarters back in regardless.

Anyways, descriptions are useless without some kind of accompanying video for reference, right?

More videos plz.

Are there multiple music tracks?

The sound on that youtube video makes it out like B Rap Boys has some really nice (quality) sound + the actual rap track was sweet.

Just out of curiosity, what is preventing the game from being emulated? I would love to try this out sometime.

Each section of the different levels has full PCM audio sound tracks. It's really sweet blasting this from a big ass American cabinet.

I'm not sure. In MAME it hangs at the "CALC CHECK" when the board is booting up.

I love beat em ups. This game would be right up my alley. I may look into snagging a PCB at some point.

It trades at a bit of a premium for a beat em up, but it's worth it IMO.

$200 for a bare board on the high end. 200 is more like if datalogik was selling it.

I'd say $150 would be reasonable. It's a tough one to find though. Honestly I chanced it with picking up this one since I had never played it before. A friend of mine has this board as well and he highly recommended it, and i'm glad he did heh.

Thats not what I would consider unreasonable. All the more sought after beat'em ups I'm interested in are around around that range such as the D&D titles, AvP, etc.

I'd love to get a B Rap Boys board someday, seems like finding it is harder than coming up with the cash to pay for it.
