I bought a 2 slot. The error that came up is a Work Ram Error. I forgot what numbers exactly it had. I'll try to post a pic later today. Does anyone know exactly what it will take to fix. Sorry I tried doing a search, but all that would come up was fatal error.

Try checking out channelmaniac topics and posts as he'd be the one to fix it.

channelmaniac should be granted a sub forum here in tech for his work../Because the search engine here SUCKS..and his hard work gets lost.

Thanks for the props!

Work RAM is the surface mount SRAM chips that are connected directly to the CPU and used for program execution. You have a failure in one or both chips depending on the error message.

They are surface mount so you have to take care in replacing them - especially if you don't have the solder gear.

Heres the error that comes up:

WORK RAM ERROR
ADDRESS WRITE READ
00100008 AAAA AAAB

So either of the ram chips connected to the processor are bad. Where would that be located on a 2 slot.

what's the difference between the MV2 and the MV2F? would it be possible to just piggyback the new ram chip onto the old one?

Difference is in the Neo chipset chips used... and the layout of the board is a little different.

No you cannot piggyback a new chip on top of the old, bad one. It must be removed and a new chip put in its place.
