Hi,

it's time to change the batteries on my oldest CPS-2 carts.
I already changed some batteries, but some of the carts
still have this Capcom metal seal in place.
Does anybody know how to remove it?

get a screwdriver under it and wiggle it upwards, or simply drill it out. it's basically 2 metal "nails" stuck into each other, no trick but brute force behind it.

If you've got 2 good pairs of plyers you can simply grab both ends of the metal and twist in the opposite directions. It should come off very easily as its basically a non welded rivit type thing. The end with the Capcom 'C' in the rivit is the end closer to where the 2 parts are attached.

My experience of trying to remove one of these from my SSF2 board was a bit of a nightmare. Managed it in the end with two pairs of long nosed pliars, but it was far from easy to remove. Don't be surprised if it's impossible to remove without chewing up the plastic casing around it quite a bit. Unleash the fury wink

Hi,

I want to thank you all for your hints.
I used the "drilling method" to open my carts as I did not want to have marks on the cases using the brute force method.

Use a blowdryer to heat up the metalic stickers that cover the holes. Then once the sticker is heated.. use a sharp razor blade (like the old-school shavers) and gently try to force it between the sticker and plastic. Best way to do this is with two people. I have had a 100% success rate with taking the sticker off and not damaging it on my of my projects! Then once your done swapping out the battery just apply it back on with no problems. The key is to really get the sticker hot... the rest is cake.

OOPS... I misread the post. I thought it was about the metal stickers. Well I'll leave this info up here anyways.
