i think a good mod policy would be to start handing out more time outs.

24 hours to 1 week, or so. only able to respond to pm's in the meantime incase of any pending deals.

i think this would help out a lot with the general retards. act like a retard, get a time out. it could get longer with each offense.

it will also give the whiney members that ask for more mod action something to satisfy them, hopefully preventing various ban x member threads, and other mod begging.

just an idea.

im not name calling or begging for anything.

this i feel is a legitimate "suggestion" and nothing more.

if the mods dont feel its a good idea, then so be it.

Adding "being a retard" to the list of banable/time out offences would open a can of worms of epic proportions... :)

the method of thinking for us is that you're all adults, and we should treat you like adults. This isn't kindergarten, and I'm sure most of you, despite the deserved nature of the offense, would resent us more for coddling and condescending to you all.

The problem is... this isn't kindergarten. In general we spend too much time catering to nitwits. Perhaps it's not a moderator's duty, but I'd like to see some extra attention made to pummeling morons... if not off the site, just for fun so they might learn they aren't welcome members of society and shouldn't breed. I don't have the time and I don't want to lose face doing my own dirty work. Can I hire a bully? How about a group of offbeats that specialize in making life miserable for knuckleheads? I like where this is going.

(Seriously, I'm not against not_sonic's idea... unfortunately it would require too much man power to govern. Mods do thankless jobs. This site could use a karma system which has been discussed many times).

I agree. Everyone seems to keep forgetting about the ignore list... If you're that annoyed with someone, use it.

It's only a small measure. Unfortunately, when someone puts a dimwit on ignore he is not ignored by everyone else. I'd still like to offer the suggestion of "put user on ignore list" on the flydown menu when you hover over a username (there's a "...buddy list" option but not the inverse). That would increase ignore efficienty by 150%.

You need to be more heartless, Ninny.

I get what your'e saying, but there's no real way to filter out every tiny thing that you might find annoying, much like even the best spam filters don't catch everything. I don't think we need anything past ignore. Just grow up a bit, scroll past the posts replying to DARK ANDY's inevitable BS, and go to bed. Anything more than that makes this place into somekind of totalitarian wasteland. Well. More so, anyways.

Haha, I always thought that's what made this place great!

I don't think it's a matter of "growing up", though. If that were the case then that's what we should be asking of the offenders. It's about social responsibility, and when some people fail at their responsibilities the rest of society has a new responsibility.
