Are Happ Monitors junk?

I only ask because i recently purchased a vision pro. plugged it in too test, worked fine. went back to wire everything and it wouldn't stop rolling. i tried calling happ, they tried to make me feel like an idiot. i rewired every possible problem. tried all horizontal/vertical hold concoctions. still rolling. if this problem had happened 6 months down the road, after frequent moves, fine. i did it somehow. but hooking it up twice with no movement in between doesn't sound like the kind if jarring motion that would cause problems.

its been less than two weeks, so they're crediting me back the purchase price. but of course im pissed because i was getting close to finishing my first cab. but i guess when you're in a hurry, that's when you make mistakes. but anyway, if you share my frustration with happ monitors, reply here. maybe im crazy.

Sounds like a simple problem of the sync lines. Either you were using the wrong molex inputs with seperate hor/vert sync, or not using combined sync. If it was a console you were trying to display, this is a common problem and requires an LM1881 circuit.

its an UMK3 board. i sent the monitor back, and am going to give another one a try. just willing to do this because they credited my acct and willing to accept it may have been my fault. although when i did connect it the first time it worked perfectly. after that it would not sync.

i fully realize im walking in the dark when it comes to this, and im trying to learn. if i have anymore problems i will come back to this thread and try to troubleshoot since this is such an old hat to the members of this board.

thank you.

Adjust the V-Hold on your monitor. The Mortal Kombats run at a slightly slower refresh rate than normal jamma. Its 57khz IIRC.

Just thought I'd chime in since I bought one of these for my SF2THF. I have had no problems it works great. This is one of the best bargains out there as far as monitors go. :buttrock:

Happs monitor are good cheap monitors and if they fail in 90 days, they'll ship you a new one. That's what I needed to do when my brand new monitor failed. It does help to have Happs here locally. They came by and delivered a new monitor and picked up the bad one. Great customer service!:buttrock:
