Help!!! I have a jamma cabinet originally built for MKII. I recently won a MVST1 from ebay and i cannot get the controls to work. The start buttons function but the joysticks do not move and the buttons are ALL wrong...

I have rewired the jamma only to P1 joystick, start, and Fire1 but start is the only thing that works. I need help...please!!!

Oh, the cart is Puzzle Bobble (Bust-a-move)

Thank you!!!

What exactly is that? a ground? all my controls are already grounded. the cabinet works with all other janna games with no problem. Just not my new MV-1a board and puzzle-babbloe cartridge. I got the MV-1a on ebay and the guy says it works and it looks in pristine condition. It start the game but the conrtols are either not working or doing the wrong thing. for example the P2 Fire1 actually activates P1 fire1, and the joysticks don't move at all. it is very weird...

The most easy thing to do is go into test mode and see if it is reading any of the inputs. Make sure the teeth of the jamma connector are aligned properly with the edge connector on the MVS pcb.

Dip 1 in ON position enables test mode. Turn it on, then turn on the cabinet power.

P1 start advances trough the hardware tests until you get to the switch tests.

If all other jamma pcbs work, then this neo-geo must work also. Also, you do not need an extra harness, as the inputs of MK are jamma standard with the exception of the extra buttons. There are 3 buttons already wired to the jamma connector, the rest is used via the extra connector on the mk2 pcb.

The start button does advance through the test and the switch test does show input from the joystick but it doesn't respond right and it looks as if the buttons are wired incorrectly. But anyway, I have opted to rebuild my jamma harness and am in the middle of that right now...guess we shall see if that happens...
