WTB: Candy Cab near Houston

Looking to buy a cab in the Houston area (or within a couple of hours or so) for MAME conversion. Anyone either interested in selling or know a source?

Taito Egret. I has one.

But it needs a cap kit.

It will work but takes a while to warm up and display the image correctly.

I certainly liked the look of the Egret he claimed he was trying to sell, and I wouldn't mind getting one from another source. But if there's a way to find a cab closer to home (Houston) then that's first priority since it lets me look at it before handing over the cash.

matsu (SoCal) is expecting a new candy cab shipment sometime in april, but he isnt local to you. Would have to ship, which would add an extra $250-300 to the price tag. If that doesn't rule him out as an option, I'd be more than happy to handpick the best cab of the bunch for ya.

NeoCverA's cab looks very nice if you are looking for a clean cab at a good price. I just wanted to let you know what the guy from ebay has. The guy's name is Roger and he is located in Bedford. I just bought this cab from him on Saturday. I started cleaning it up yesterday, but you can still see what he is offering.

He has at least one more Hyper 64 cab, a Neo 25 looks just like NeoCverA's cab, some Jaleco Pony mark IV cabs, 3 Neo 27s (like the one on ebay) and a couple of Mini Cutes. He had those in his garage. he told me he has around 40 import cabs for sale - most are in a warehouse. He says he also has some Megalo 410s and larger but I did not see those. Have a look at mine to get an idea of the work you will need to do - these cabs have been in storage for the past year or two so they are dirty.

It worked well for me because he was around 30 min drive from my house. I took some pictures - maybe I can post them if anyone is interested.

Pixiljunkie also mentioned that he knows someone that might have a candy for sale in Dallas - so you might check and see if his friend decided to sell.

I did fall off the face of the earth for a bit there after the Tx Showdown Tournament happened.

Left town on short notice.

I just got back yesterday. I have the cab, and I'll let it go pretty damn cheap if you're still interested.

I may be interested in getting a real candy cab to replace my pseudo-candy...

He did contact me back. PM'ed a couple of days ago -- I was planning to look at it on Friday, but he sent me a message on Thursday saying he decided not to sell. Shame about that really. The design of the Egret really appeals to me aesthetically; so he might have gotten a premium out of it.

So I'm still poking around. The ebay guy is the only one who's never returned my messages at this point.

Yeah, I came back from out of town and as I was cleaning it up to present it for sale I decided to take it apart and clean up the insides. There was coke syrup all inside the control panel(it shorted out the LED digital display on the panel).

When I popped open the monitor hood I saw a tiny toggle switch near the monitor controls. I turned on the cab with SSF2X and it look horrible. I toggled the switch and PRESTO! Perfect picture! Apparently it was a resolution setting that was incorrect.

As cheap as I was going to let it go I couldn't go through with it. Especially now that there was nothing really wrong with it other than yellowing and paint scuffs.

Parliboy, the owner of the old Stargate Arcade is a friend of mine and he still has a few candy cabs left(one hyper neo, and a Capcom impress). I don't think he plans on keeping them so I will ask him if he wants to sell them.

I am sorry for changing my mind so suddenly but I would have felt like a complete fool had I sold it to you only to find out that a mere switch was the problem.
