After talking to few people about buying candy cabs and others, i decided that id rather build my own. living in the midwest, prices for shipping are a little steep for me. and so far its been going great. been a lot of fun and im learning quite a bit. board works fine, monitor is new and works great. the cab still needs tweaks in the aesthetic dept but overall im pleased with the results.

my question is regarding speakers. what kind should i use? and is there anything special i need to know when connecting them. its an UMK3 board, i understand it broadcasts mono. but is there anything special i need to know connecting 2 speakers to this board? i bought a set of pc speakers, i thought it would be a cool idea to be able to hook up an ipod if i ever got sick of the mood music UMK3 puts out. but if these are unusable id like to know.

any help anyone can give me will be appreciated!

Thanks.

couldn't find the info in the manual. but a couple of searches led me to a few guides telling me to use an 8 ohm speaker. not to use 4 ohms because it could could cause unwanted stress to your soundboard. in any event, i appreciate the help. i have a volt meter, ill check what i have. if not ill go back to square one.

thanks!

It really makes no difference, any mvs boards audio output stage will happily (and is designed) to run in to any load above 4 ohms. Volume may be a bit low above 16

Don't know how far along you are on building your machine, but I searched Namco's arcade sale page and looking in Iowa I found one candy cab for sale.

05200
MC-RAIDEN JET FIGHTER
URV/CONV
$299.00
SIOUX CITY, IA
(712) 276-2680

The MC means it's a mini-cab, I bought one near me and it was an Exceleena 2. Give them a call and see if it's still available, sometimes the website is slow.

Yea, sucks that they don't update their page very often. Hope you get your cab looking the way you want it!

I'm glad things turned out well for you. So do you have to drill the holes for the controls? I recommend going with the 6-button playout so you can play other fighting games like all the street fighters or my favorite killer instinct but if you want to go with the 4-button neo geo layout thats cool, lots of luck and you'll find lots of useful help here on the boards.
