Nice price. That's exactly the same cab set-up as the MVC in my game room...cabinet and all :)

cab prices amaze me these days. That would be a steal for a deluxe 33" dynamo. I remember paying 750+ for a 25" dynamo back in the days.

.

You're telling me. I'm stuck in the middle of the U.S. and would have to drive 21 hours for that beaut. If only it was closer. If only.

Dynamo 33" have gotten very, very cheap these days. Most people don't want them because they dont have the room to house something that big. Plus, repairing a 33" monitor is a big pain in the ass. I was thinking about getting one of these too, and saw that auction actually, but I think I'll just stick with the 25".

If you had the space for this one and the monitor does go kaput.... this is the type of cab that you could put a nice flat panel in at least...

nice and dynamo should never be in the same sentence.

Ah yes, the old japanese cabinet versus western "woodie". I own quite a few of both with a slight edge to japanese cabinets. In my short stint of cab collecting (1 yr of true hardcore collecting), I've purchased 20 japanese cabs from Arcade Infinity alone and have had quite a few woodies pass through my hands thanks to Pakmann Arcade in LA and various newsgroups back in the day. If space permitted It would be nice to have two separate "large" dedicated areas for both styles... Maybe one day.

Yes woodies are mostly a nostalgia thing versus the functionality of a japanese cabinet... but to refute nostalgia on a messageboard about the NEO-GEO? Also a forum that has a major slant towards 2D games and shmups?

Sure you can play the same games on a japanese cabinet, but for certain games that you remember playing in a certain way (on a woody); it helps complete the atmosphere/personal authenticity. Why even bother? If I'm going to go so far as to play it on a cabinet versus a supergun, pc, etc; might as well go all the way and do it "right".

Japanese cabinets are nice. If I had to only choose one style, I would choose "candy". However to imply that one shouldn't even bother with a woody is too far imho. I hear your implied logic with a "candy" cab, but humans don't operate completely on logic. If we did, we wouldn't even be playing games. There are far more beneficial activities we could be participating in if we were driven only by logic. Gaming is an activity that can evoke emotions similar to those that arise from traditional aesthetics, therefore logic is not such a major factor... its all about what "feels good" to you.

I guess the younger generations don't have so much attachment to these things for various reasons.... and sorry for the rant. Insomnia does that to me. :D

I prefer the Dynamos with the short CP.... The ones that commonly house 6 button games.

Fit just about anywhere.
