Hey folks!

I have to say I really Like Metal Slug 1 on CD. It loads realy FAST on a CD-Z, and the extras are great!

So how about you guys?

Metal Slug 1 I enjoy on CD with the combat school and galleries but I don't really have a choice as the cart is out of my reach and price limit. Pulstar has better music on CD but it appears to me to have lost some animation. Outside of CD unique titles or high priced cart versions IMHO I will always pick carts.

Yeah, about time that some one posted this!

The real deal is Neo turf master on cd.
1 trask more to play-secret track- and an handicap mode which mixes the holes from the previous 4 tracks.

Loading time with my cdz is acceptable. 6 ss betwwen a hole and another.
The home cart is a very good piece for collecting purpose and to play perfect like in the arcade...only miss some extra features.

Anyway, the cd of Neo turf master can be gotten for $40-50...the home cart is sadly very rare and expensive.
It seems that the cd version is more easy to take a ride on...

A real shame for the home cart.

The slugs on neo are great. On a cdz the load times are not bad at all. Windjammers is also pretty good on cd although I always prefer the carts.

I have always heard that Metal Slug on CD was a great version and in some ways even better than the cart. I happen to have the MVS and, of course, love it, but would ove to see the extra goodies on the CD

Also, the remix music on Real Bout is just fantastic. The loads are, of course, a little annoying, but not nearly as bad as say a KoF or later Sam Sho. AsS far as graphically, the only thing missing is the fire truck in the "Billy/Yamazaki" waterfront stage.

In fact, when I sold my CDZ, I made a burn of the Real Bout game CD so I had a copy of the music, I liked it so much.

let see

of course metal slug 1 and 2

Pulstar has my vote since it has the full power up cheat when you die. I would not have finished it otherwise.

twinkle star sprites has a nice little gallery.

hmmm, there are other cd games but that is all I can think of that have both a NGH and NGCD version.

I see some folks really like metal Slug 2 on CD. I have both cart and CD, bu I like the cart better. The CD has a nice gallery and the combat school, which is worth the price right there, but the actual game suffers a bit. Missing animation, loading in the middle of an intense moment, just seems to ruin the flow.

I prefer Magical Drop II on Neo Geo CD. It has one of the best soundtracks ever in a video game, but the synth voices used on the rom version are tinny and chimey. They totally redid the sound on the cd version and this adds quite a bit to the gaming experience.

Twinkle Star Sprites is probably my favorite pick, then Metal Slug 1 or 2. The combat school is just a blast to play.

Real Bout 2 has my vote as having the best remixes. The soundtrack is great

Having a CDZ helps too

I enjoy SS3 more on CD. There's something more fluent about it.

I like CD version of Ragnagard better than home cart, it has extra animation. Most games below 200 megs are great on CD with a few exception, such as Neo Turfmasters, you must turn off the announcement option, else it'd load 5 times between 2 courses.

On the other hand, the worst game for Neo-Geo CD isn't the highest meg KOF 99 (IMO, the loading is arranged very well), but Last Blade 2, ask anyone who has this game on CD which I don't even want to talk about.

I agree, I love LB2 also, the music kicks ass, the gameplay is great, but I HATE THE LOADING TIMES! I COULD HAMMER DOWN A CASE OF SPRITE BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY GET TO PLAY! 'Tis a great game though.

I don't find load times annoying for any game really.. But I haven't been spoiled by playing them on AES/MVS so I don't have anything to compare it to. Guess that makes me lucky.

The combat school in the Metal Slug games is great.

Also, if you play Last Blade 2 on a J system (or region modded) you get a bonus quiz game on the main menu. This is included in both the Last Blade 2 US and J cd's but it only appears on a J system because it's in Japanese.

Another note.. the Pulstar CD has about 80 megs of AVI video files included as a bonus that you can watch on your PC. Don't know if anyone else has found that yet.

Maybe it's my imagination, but I seem to find a lot of differences in games by playing them in hardware US and J modes.. Different graphics during loading, etc.

Well if I may put my two cents in regarding the loading times of the CD games- I just got a CDZ. I bought Art of Fighting 3, and from what I've seen so far, the loading times are fine. Its not super fast like a Dreamcast, but for a high meg game, its fine!!

By the way, does anyone have a copy of Shonoken/Raganard(spelling??) for sale? I would like to get it on CD since I can never find the cart.

Thanks all.
