Problem w/right click copy in new version internet explorer

I downloaded the newest updates for internet explorer a few weeks ago and now when I try to right click and drag the mouse to copy text I get this stupid crosshair or plus sign looking thing that wants to make a box over everything. If I choose to try and copy the text I get this retarded box that it saves the copied or cut text in and seems pretty useless to me. Is there a way to get this back to normal so I can right click, drag, then copy. And then simply right click again and paste the text where I want it?

Has anyone else found this annoying or maybe usefull? Oh, i'm using windows xp.
