PS2 fan problem

I was wondering if anyone can help me out. Recently when I play my PS2, in the middle of a game, out of the blue, the PS2 would screw up, and the reset light would keep blinking red. Well, I found out today why. It seems that the fan in the back that is supposed to absorb the heat inside the system and blow is out isn't spinning anymore for some weird reason. I have checked the fan, and I know it works, since I took out my fan and put it inside my friend's PS2. I took his, which I know works for sure, and put it inside mine, and the fan didn't spin.

So, since the fan isn't the problem, it must be other things. I have looked around and there doesn't seem to be any thing out of the ordinary. Everything else on the PS2 works fine. As of now, my PS2 has no top, with a fan blowing on the heat sink, and so far no resetting or anything, even after hours of use.

Is there anything I can do to solve my problem? Any help on this matter is much appreciated. Or even better, is there anyone in the SF Bay Area that knows about this kind of stuff able to help me out? Thanks in advance for all that help.

What voltage is the fan? If it's AC then it is probably a cold solder joint or broken wire. If it's a 12V DC fan(or other) then maybe part of the power supply went bad...but I'm not sure. I haven't studied the PS2 power supply board.

Replacing any caps/transistors/fuses on the power supply board would be a likely fix if that was the problem.

there's a fuse specifically for the fan near the fan connector (surface mount fuse, small black box with a number). it's prolly blown.

I have a version 7 PS2 (3900 series). Is this fuse in the same place for all Ps2 models? Thanks for the help, so far.

It just happend out of no where? did you open your box before? just to let you know if you disconnected anything like the cable that retains the time then the fan will not turn on. you have to find an alternative power, i would recommend the 5+ on the bottom of your V7

No, I opened up the PS2 and modded it. It worked for a little while, then one day, it stopped working.

I sent you a PM with some questions.

okay check this out homie. you have to fun the wire fans. once you cunt, it does not matter in what order. make one of the cables ground. then make one of the cables connect to your 5+ on your mother board... like where you ask? well sense you modded your ps2 you needed a 5+ to make your chip work. you can share that power with your fan and it should work fine.
