I was gonna say...my God man, please don't let this sub-forum grow into the bullshit FPS water cooler. It's bad enough that so many (new-school gaming) people equate FPS games with the word 'shooter'.

What about something like The Club?

It's a Third Person shooter but it has a scoring/combo system with a total emphasis on getting high scores.

Then again, it's not really a horizontal or vertical shooter.
