I just got an AV cable for my Neo Geo, and I'm having trouble getting it to work with my reciever. I don't know how to get the reciever to recignize mono sound. I'm also having trouble getting a picture. I guess you could say I'm up shit creak without a paddle. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Bryan

Find the nearest Radio Shack and pick up a Y-cable for the sound problem. It will still be mono but it will play on all speakers.

Just to warn you, some receivers have incompatablity issues. For example, I have a Kenwood Reciever and a Philips VCR. While the VCR works if connected directly to my TV, it won't show picture thru my receiver. However, sound did go through. Sometimes, things are just incompatable no matter what.

However, I hope that Radio Shack holds the key to allowing you to play NEO to its fullest. Let us know if you're problem gets solved.

Audio isn't my only problem however, I'm having problems getting a picture too. I have a PIONEER reciever. I hate to ask all of these questions but I don't know what else to do... Thanks!

I have never had any incompatability issues with any of my recievers. My only suggestion for the picture problem is that it could have to do with your Neo unit. I don't know how you could be having problems at the fault of the reciever (unless it's really old). You could lose quality if you have too much line. If you are trying to play the Neo from the other side of the room you may lose quality with really long AV cables. Thant is all I could really think of.

One last one for ya, kindof a shot in the dark though. I have seen problems with bad picture quality when you hook up a system to a TV (or Reciever). One thing that seemed to help was you hook up the system to a switch box and then up to the TV (or Receiver). I can't tell you why it worked but I have seen it work. Good luck

This is a long shot but I made this mistake once myself. I have my Denon 4800 hooked up too my TV using s-video. I tried plugging in my Neo cart system to the Denon and got no picture. I finally realized that sinse I had no composite cable running from my receiver to TV I got no picture at all. And sinse the Neo only has composite (w/out mod)the receiver needs to have the same connection running through the TV to get a picture.

I may be of some assistance.
I need a few questions answered though: <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">
1. what input are you using on the receiver for sound.
2. do you run the video through a composite (yellow) jack into the receiver or directly into your Tv from your Neo.
3. Is it just sound that is the problem.
4. Have you attempted to hook any other device up through the same input on the receiver and if so did you get sound from it?

why not just hook the av cables to the vcr and use the vcr setting on your reciever if you want sound throught your sound system. i never understood why people hook video up to a reciever.
